Mick, here is the link to my original post. My understanding is that Geoff Smith regularly checks the webcams and if one is not pointing in the right direction, a quick phone call is made and it is re-aligned to the South West.,(the outer Harbour one).I think they are quite proud of their web-cams and are very willing to help, where required.
Ben, that would suck working up there on a howling North Westerly, watching everybody kiting at the wall!!

Hey.

It is very frustrating to watch people charging along the flat water going nuts while I am at work.
But on the positive side my desk faces one of the best kiting locations in SA and I can observe the techniques and be entertained by everyone through the binoculars.
I am aware of the cameras being adjusted for focus reasons but not beach observations.
The challenge of the position is to view the entrance to the harbor as well as including the north end of the beach as much as possible.

Regards

Ben

Dont know what is involved but the camera at Middleton appears to be rotating between three different angles.
Is this possible.
Out tonight as dusk and not a bad short session, Sorry Ben!!!

Hey Jim the camera down Middleton does that as well as the south port one!
Sadly the outer harbor one doesn't have the same function as its primary objective is to
Monitor the harbor entrance not the surf lol. Any success finding your board or have you got a new one ?
This arvo I was wiring up my boat with lights ect to
Explore the section bank for kiting this summer. Do you have a gold ticket for the Saksa party tomorrow night !

Yes I realise the reason is to monitor the harbour but the cameras with more functions these days are relatively? cheap.
There is obviously the cost of programming etc and the red tape. I would put in money for it!!
Dont have a gold pass for tonight but I think we get free pizza, looking foreward to that.
I do want a gold pass to the boat as obviously you will need an observer who will carry a kite of course. It is more fun to kite with friends.

Hey coastflyer

Yeah Pelican Island / section bank on the northern side of the northern breakwater looks like lots of waist deep water and nice sandy bottom.

I've seen one person on here who has a profile photo with them over there. (Camera looking down from kite shot)

I haven't seen anyone over there but it's probably due to the fact you need to cross the river to get there.

If there isn't any laws against us going over there I will be definitely be keen to give it a shot.

A few crew have been over to this spot by boat and canoe.

Give it a go.

Awesome spot if you have a jetski or boat to get there! Some waves around the deeper areas to the south (tip of rock wall) and some flat water further north where its shallower and the sandbars are.

It is a tough gig paddeling one of these past ships the length of a football oval. In reflection a few things could have gone wrong.

Make sure you have a jet ski back up to take on this tour

I have been thinking about this to (I come past it regularly for work) But I think at least some of it is a Marine Reserve.. I will ask a contact at EPA what the score is, he goes there regularly to count birds.....

That tour is just a afternoon trip. Only half a leave pass required. Jasper, just like lake Eyre you don't need approval as no one will ask for a permit.

I am laughing to myself now remembering when I first saw the unsinkable II canoe

Luke if you take it on, pack a mars bar you will build up a hunger

Hi guys, I made a very discrete enquiry to Geoff Smith and guess what, alignment of outer harbour cam now fixed! This guy is a legend, and in my opinion, goes way above the call of duty!
