The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is conducting its annual Around Green Island Marathon on Saturday 17 December 2011 at Manly in Brisbane.

Windsurfers and Kiteboarders are invited to complete in the event.

Download the Notice of Race here:

www.rqys.com.au/wp-content/uploads/11-ROUNDGREENISLAND-NOR.pdf

The courses will be set across the wind to suit slalom sailboards and kitesurfers. It will not be an upwind course.

The Notice of Race indicates the area of Waterloo Bay to be used for the event.

The race will be of marathon length, but will not go around Green Island.

It is anticipated that the course will be a numbers of laps up and back with the total distance to be travelled around 25 nautical miles.

The fastest windsurfers would expect to take 1 hour to complete the course.

To participate, you will need to register at:

and look for Around Green Island Marathon.

Are any of you kiters interested in competing in this sailing event, reaching around the bouys?

We had 8 kiters enter last years event.

Excellent WillyO

I have posted more information about the event on the Seabreeze > All Forums > Windsurfing > Windsurfing Queensland forum. Just look for the post titled "RQYS Around Green Island Marathon - 17 December 2011"

The post contains mudmaps of RQYS grounds, sailing office, reception, boom gates, rigging areas and start area. In addition, it explains how to enter RQYS on the day.

Hope to see more kitesurfers there.

Sorry but whats the point? No skill no tactics.
Hopefully next time the course will be more challenging.

Well done, Brighton Race Team.
It was good fun to come along even though the course was soooooo boring. 5km straight course, 4 laps to go. Let's hope for a better course next year.

Congratulation to everyone!
