this is a follow on from the june trip to the beachouse that was great (see fiji june 1-15 post .photos http://picasaweb.google.com.au/digimiles/TheBeachHouse2nd12thJune?authkey=Gv1sRgCI_doqjAqbfjfw# ) Current jetstar from Sydney price $510
Accom looks like it is $200 aud for 10 days .Transfers to and from beachouse $40
breaky and arvo tea included and dineer costs around $10 aud per night
The spot is a really nice cross shore wind and consistent 2-3 foot waves .There are rights and lefts .the wind is usually around 15 -25 kts which doesn't sound like alot but remember is is nice crosshore .No wind guarantee but there is plenty of other things to do if it is no wind and when it does blow it will blow for 4-6 hours and quite a few days in a row and you will enjoy a day or two off .So far we have 5 with 3 seasoned beachousers

Comon guy's not long to go now

If you r on the east coast and want a cheap tropical island kiting holiday to get away from the OZI winter, Here is your chance to get away with a bunch of others all doin the same thing

You will have the best time, trust me

So go book your flights now, just doit

O and you only need to pack your bordies and kite gear

Sounds great
Make sure they leave the steamer behind strickly board short weather or a two piece

To all going I have been looking at a hire car
I can get a Town ace 6-8 seater van for about AUD 600 (plus fuel) for the 10 days
This is unlimited Ks and includes insurance
Excess is not cheap, but hey I am an experianced good driver trust me
Just don't ask how I got experianced

If When we get this we can explore some great flat and wave locations and do a couple of downwinders along the edge of the reef following the waves or inside the reef along the flat stuff

Can you believe today is the 8th already and we leave on the 11th

As stated on the general forum, if I could go this would be the trip for me.

Lac and Ric are very experienced in both kiting and getting the most out of a trip to Fiji

So like me if you are sick of the cold and no wind go for it.

Just as a folow up to the insurance
www.travelinsurancedirect.com.au/

Have been reading the policy and it appears it also covers rental car excess
Not that it would stop me from hireing a car, but good to know it might be a possability to recover this cost if such an unfortunate event should occur

And about a hire car guys now that we probly have all interssted partys all paid up to go
Please let me know if interested in contributing as there is at least nine people going but a van ain't going to fit everyone in.
Allready ask and no trailers are available
I am happy to wing it and see if we can all squeeze in, but would hate to see anyone dissapointed, or sitting on the roof
Most vans are 6-8 seat, but wont fit everyones gear in if all seats are taken.
The main problem will be to/from the airport with all our gear, so if we are not all turning up at the same time, then it will be less of a problem.

I intend to explore on no wind days and do some downwinders so car will come in very handy.

Townace 6-8 seat FJD1000
Tarago 7-8 seat FJD1210
Hiace 8-9 seat FJD1550

To have any chance of fitting everyone in we will need the hiace, but if some are not interested I will get one of the other cheaper cars.

So far in for hire car is:
Ric
Craig
Holly

Just got an email from jetstar saying the flights had changed
booking No, flight No, dates & times all look the same though
Accepted the changes anyway

Anyone else get this?

Just talking to another guy at work, he had the same thing a while ago but it wasn't till the next day the flights actually did change.

Hopefully we fly in earlier and back home later

Edit: I rang jetstar, the flight was changed, we arrive there 1 min later

OK, I have booked a 9 seater nissan Urvan for 1550FJD (about AUD$900 all up) plus fuel for the 10 days.
Just waiting on Confirmation of booking (fiji time)
They reckon no room for 9 people and all gear incl. surfboard in van.
I reckon we should be able to find room though.
What we can't fit in, Lach will organise The Beachouse mini van
If anyone got anything to assist in tying surfboards on roof please bring. (we should wait until the guy dropping the van off at the airport has left before we do this )

The 13 & 9 seater hiace had both been taken unfortunately.

Been checking the webcams, and hidaway has had at least 7 or 8 days straight now with whitecap

Not long to go now, the way it's been round here lately we will all need to make sure we don't get held up in customs with cobwebs and spiders on our gear

Sounds good Ric, can you post link to beach cam ?

Cant we just pile all the gear on the roof and then Lac can ride up there and hold on to it all ?

http://www.fijiwebcam.com/
I had a bit of trouble with this just now, but found if I turn the brightnes up on the monitor it makes the world of difference.
The coral coast cam has been know to be out for a couple of days at a time, but been good last week

Last 8 days straight with plenty of white caps on the hidaway cam
with at least three being smaller kite weather (9m for me)
But 4 days before had no wind

The hideaway cam is located west of The Beachouse by about 13K's (will be our first downwinder to get everyone in the spirit of things )
The Suva cam often has less wind, you will often see hobie cats there (they have a regatta on soon), sometimes also see a few kites hooking up and down the seawall, out the back about 4 ks you can also see a wave, this can be a good left apparently, so hope to visit

www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=82
You can check out some general weather here, but not that acurate for wind.

www.met.gov.fj/domestic_fcst_warn.html
have found the marine bulletin to be reasonable
When it says 15 - 20 it can sometimes be under 15
But when it says 20plus is usually good so far.

Count me in craig

I think there are 8 from newcastle/central coast so to many for hire car anyway.

Depending on what lach and Jeremy do we may only have the three in your car craig!

Offsite parking for 10 days at airport is about $125 (10 min from airport)
Not sure what the airport parking would be?
I think a large wagon was $80 ea way?

PS: last 9 days plenty white caps, but also rain today
Could have been on the water before 8 today, to bad if like to get a little extra beauty, you will miss out on a few extra sesions
