Hitting ramp with fins on?
Is this going to cause damage to kicker?
I was jumping around/over it today and wanted to use it but i also was not sure/kind of know I should take fins out.
As wind got stronger I moved upwind to avoid getting sandblasted, not nice in the eyes.
The construction crew seem not phased by kiters in fairly close proximity.
Which is good, until somebody stuffs up I guess.
I was fin free when i hit it, but i reckon fins are fine. as you saw it parallel PVC pipe, probably made so fin run up channels.
Yeah, it would be good if you could take the fins out just in case it catches... unless you have a big rocker on your board then it won't work that great.
Bastards haha, Im happy to build another one for everyone, i have plenty of wood, only bits I lack are pipeing, so if any one has access to some pipes or some sought of surface I'm happy to put it together and if anyone else wants to help... can have a bit more fun

I've been thinking about permanent sliders etc, I think may need council permission or they will just remove it again?
Maybe could make something yellow, that somehow drops in over the existing marker, turning it into a floating kicker.
the plastic conduits leave big white marks on the bottom of board, maybe a sheet of white hard nylon similar to a butchers chopping block would be better.
Anyway, would be good to do it right, and have something that lasts for few years.
Does anybody know if there is spare yellow markers in council storage?
If so it would be easier to build around and then just do a swap out.
Good idea, talk to KBV about making some floating fun?
Also set up a winch or cable park over winter too plese :)
I think that's the second one they have removed this summer. There was one hidden in the bushes that I saw them dismantling a few months ago.
A mate of mine had a kicker in a river for a while, but was told to remove it by NSW Maritime. Only way he was going to be allowed to leave it in is if he had it registered as a vessel (like a pontoon etc).
To do it at St Kilda, I suspect you'd have to talk to Parks Vic, Council etc.
saw a fellow kiter ripping the altona one apart. He obviously didn't agree with it
ps if you're worried about the bottom of your board you should not be hitting kickers... just saying
