A few hardy souls out kitesurfing today in the surprisingly warm water around Frankston. The wind was good in the morning, but the storm that came in at 3pm was savage. Hopefully everyone was off the water by then!

Yeah, I was in Brighton and saw it coming. I landed the kite and the squall hit ~10min later. One guy came in way overpowered and looked very relieved after I landed him. :-)
It was a very bad idea to try to land instead of heading out further but everything went fine. Interestingly two other obviously experienced guys on the water did not seem to have problems but maybe I was just focused on landing the kite.
Glad to hear you got through it OK. Heading out to sea is definitely the go, along with having the right size kite. But the best approach is to avoid the fronts if possible.
