Today was the worst kind of wind, the kind that deceives you into pumping up and getting wet for absolutely no positive result.
Tide was dead low at 5pm hence I didn't bother but then I never venture down the pier end.
Is it possible to kite the pier end on a low tide?
Situation is dire, the season is nearly over. I always seem to be working on the rare days when there is wind.
Dave
summer, or what there was of it, is over. frontal rainy crap and gnarly northerlies from now until september. time to go wetsuit shopping...
lol i dont want to know about anything under 17 knots i might be getting picki but i remember summers of past that had good sea breezes at least 4 times a week. maybe we were just lucky. Im movin to perth!
There was one week after Christmas that was ok !
Yep, its been rubbish this season. Not even worth going the lightwind kite - frontal winds would mean making the news by ending up in power lines.
At least the wife and kids are happy - lots more family time.
I had a good session at point leo tuesday arvo, no one else there! You must of all been in the **** at altona
Had some good wind and waves at Warrnambool the weekend before last www.peterskiteboarding.com/2011/02/some-monster-waves-at-warrnambool-main.html
But there has been bugger all around Melbourne since. Seems we are stuck in some sort of wind shadow that has lasted most of the summer.
What the hell is the wind doing today..
Howling at South Channel, and pretty much zero everywhere else in the bay.
Would Inverloch be a good idea?
I think the pub would be a good idea. I organised to have the afternoon free to enjoy the forecast 20-25 and now I'm catching up on paperwork
But wait, Fawkner just turned on! Awesome.
Have fun at Inverloch everybody, I'll see you there after I briefly drop in at Altona to check the pollution levels
Never been to Inverloch, but wouldn't it be very gusty on a Westerly?
Maybe you get a slight funneling effect when it's blowing East, but from the looks of it, the only direction for clean wind seems more or less straight South.
Just guessing form Google Maps.
waiting for wind at terd beach altona, 8 knots and just helped a guy pull his ripped 13 meter slingshot fuel off a light pole. idiot!
...just to stop all you guys whining, the weekend forecast looks good.
