Course Racing is on this Saturday down at Safety Bay Yacht Club
The emphasis for the day is to have fun and get people into course racing, no prior experience of racing required.
Course/Race boards are not essential, so bring your twin tip for some round the buoy racing.
(Course/Race boards will be in their own division)
There will also be post racing BBQ, with bar open from 5pm, for everyone to relax and discuss tips, tactics and strategies.
The weather is looking good, so it should be a fun afternoon!
Where: Safety Bay Yacht Club
When: Saturday 19th February
Registration from 1200
Briefing and tutorial 1230
First Race 1300
Last Race 1600
Post Racing BBQ and Drinks 1700-1900
Just a quick update regarding tomorrows course racing.
The guys from Airborne Kitersurfing will be bringing a couple of race boards tomorrow for people to try out if your like. My board will also be available to race with, as long as I'm not on the water, and I'm sure there will be many more friendly kiters! (Also Doonas may be borrowed from me if you ask nicely :P)
Also AKS has kindly supplied some killer Ozone Bouys for the race to give it that professional feel, so looks like a fun day.
Catch you all on the water racing.
Kitegiant
Not having a whinge, just asking but are you guys going to be taking up the whole outside of the spit?
Hope it's a great event.
HA Redthumbs are classic.
I'm glad you're putting on the event. I'm not chucking a fit or anything. I just wanted to know if it was worth the drive down today if the course was going to cover the whole spot. That's great to hear. I'll come down and take in the action later today. I don't think i'd challenge anyone around a course but it'll be cool to see.
Hope you get great wind for racing.
Ok Results from Yesterday's Course Racing.
Firstly Big thanks to Safety Bay Yacht Club for setting the course, putting the rescue boat in the water and for the use of their club facilities! Made the day that little be better.
Big thanks to everyone who brought course boards, it meant that everyone was racing on them and that was the talk on the beach, which is faster, which was not affected so much by weed... so Damo from Airbourne and Phil from WA Surf thank you.
Thanks also to Phil for providing a wet suit as a prize, and to Darren from AKS for the Ozone course racing buoys.
Right no to get into the weeds.
We had 15 guys on the water racing, 5 per race, three races per heat. So totally of six races. Unfortunately we ran out of water time to run a final, but were able to throw Alty and Damo in the last race to mix it up a little with Johhno and Ned, which made the last race that little bit more interesting. (Almost a photo finish for third!)

Well done to Damo Gough, and to everyone who raced. It was great to see so many people on the water racing.
We will work on organising more racing more often from Safety Bay Yacht Club, there was even talk of a Windrush vs Skiff vs Windsurfer vs Kite race spectacle at some stage.... could be fun.
Thanks to all for a great event/series
This course racing stuff is bloody good fun!
does anyone have the overall results from all of the other events??
Just a reminder if anyone is keen both of the Airush sectors (60 and 52) are available for demo from Airborne Kitesurfing p.h 9244 4474
I came down mainly to watch and see what the whole course racing stuff was about.
Quite an enjoyable afternoon, when I can kite better I think I will give this a go.
Was interesting to see people riding fridge doors around
I took some pictures and have uploaded a few more here http://plantdink.smugmug.com
