I plan to go snow kiting above Thredbo in the Cocks Harbour area on Sunday 23 Sept. Winds look favourable, and picking up during the day. Might see you there!!
Nice sunny day, but the winds were freaky gusting to nearly 30 knots. Decided to go with my little 1.5m Pl Stunt kite....you know what they say, always go one kite less when you think the bigger one will do......I think my 2.5m PL Rebble would have had me slamming into the rocks downwind, the gusts were so fierce.
But nonetheless, I had a great time with my hankerchief kite.
See the pics below:
Hey Pat, was that you towing someone else back to Thredbo via Cocks Harbour today?
cheers
Paul
Yah, had a ripper of a weekend.
Kited Ramsheads and then Kos on Saturday morning with Marty* in sparrowfart winds, then skied little Austria, camped out, and tore up Cocks harbour and Rawson pass on Sun morning, before the wind came up late in the morning and, as Dutchy says the gusts got really nasty, too much even for the smartkite 4.5, so we decided it was beer o'clock.
I'll try to put some pics up later...
* Marty is an experienced local kiter and he knows his way around - a nice bloke who is worth looking up if you are down that way kiting.
Pat
Whoops, that was Kos..
