All

This is the way I have been told it will be OK to get to the airport,

Take the Henty HWY B200 from Horsham to Warrick, NTH.

Turn to Rupanyup B240.

Once at Rupanyup, turn NTH to Sheep Hills.

At Sheep Hill continue NTH to Warrick.

Once at Warrick drive STH down the Henty B200 to the airport.

At this stage this is a go from what I am being told, & will add 10min to the trip

This may change as the water starts to fall, as it due to peak at Warrick yesterday

Paid a visit to the airport today. Happy to say that you can drive from Horsham to Warracknabeal airport without even getting your tyres wet, albeit you do have a slight detour. Travel up the C231 Horsham-Kalkee Rd (a.k.a. Blue Ribbon Rd) to Wallup where it crosses the C234 Boring Hwy. Turn right to Warracknabeal. At Warracknabeal, turn right down the Henty Hwy. Go around the road closure and drive straight to the airport (yeah, you shouldn't but the problem is way past the airport).

We have access to the facilities of the Aero Club as well as a couple of marquees near the track (the bit the pilots think is a runway and taxi way).

Just talked to warracknabeal police mans wife and she talked to him. We can go past the road block to get to the airport only !!! The north easterly approach that was posted earlyer will get your feet wet, at least 200mm about five klm from warracknabeal. I can only vouch for the last leg as I did not come from horsham, the end of the horsham turn off was just over the road so the blue ribbon Rd is the best and safest option.

Dead right, cam. The route posted earlier has a nasty patch, so don't use it. The route I posted is quicker and bone dry.

Well, day one of the racing. Bad news is that there wasn't any. The expected 8-10kts did not arrive, but there were enough sucker puffs to give everyone an opportunity for a bit of fun.

Tomorrow, the forecast is for a cool change and the winds we are hoping for.

I was there Monday, and was impressed with the race format and 'fun' feel of the event. Well done to all who organised the event and to those who competed. Oh, and thanks to those who explained the race format to us and answered our other noob questions

First time my Dad and I had seen a Blokart, even had a short sail of a one. Not sure about the hand steering though

Glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully next time you will be a competitor. If foot steering was better, cars would use it.

Anyway, we got a two page spread in the Wimmera Mail-Times.

Some cars do use foot steering e.g. cars for paraplegics

Im sure foot pedals could be retrofitted to a Blokart without too much worry

If a cars throttle and brakes were operated by hand Im sure steering would be with feet

Its good everyone likes different things to keep life interesting

I think i heard that someone in Esperance fitted foot steering to their blokart to "improve" it

Yes, I believe I heard the same thing. The Lefroy mini plans have some info like that if memmory serves.

I think I detect a bit of a 'stab' from Test Pilot but I dont think foot steering would change the handling or performance of a Blokart any. Not that there aren't other things you can do to get better performance if you have the dollars

EDIT: Awesome write-up you guys recieved in the paper, looks like it nearly does the event itself justice. Chalk a PR point up for the Blokart community.
