Central Queensland Blokart Club wish to advise we will be hosting the 2013 Australian Blokart Open on Farnborough Beach, Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia, from Friday 5th to Monday 8th April 2013 out of the Mercure Capricorn Resort.
Friday 5th will be a registration/practice day. Early registration is preferred. Saturday morning will take late registrations if required.
The event will consist of short course racing on Saturday and Sunday and a 100km marathon on Monday.
Short course racing will be scored for the Australian Open Title separately from the marathon, which will be a stand alone bonus race.
The event will be run similarly to the 2012 Australian Open with production and performance classes of the same weight division racing in the same races with classes scored separately to allow for the maximum number of races to be held.
Classes offered will be production and performance with weight divisions to be adjusted to even fields. Traditional weight breaks may not necessarily be used with weight groups to be adjusted to allow more evenly filled fields.
Light, Middles, Heavies and Supers will be offered if enough early entries are received.
Yeppoon is located on the Queensland coast 40km north of Rockhampton (closest major airport) and 680km north of Brisbane (closest International airport). Accommodation is available from caravan/ camping grounds, up to holiday rental houses and motel and resort rooms. The event will be run out of Mercure Capricorn Resort (formerly Rydges) with Sweetlips Room being the registration/briefing/kart storage room again.
Resort bookings can be made at: www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-8543-mercure-capricorn-resort-yeppoon/index.shtml
Scoring will be on a lowest point's winners system, with 1 point for a first, 2 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd etc. A Did Not Finish is number of racers in the field plus 1, a Did Not Start is number of racers in the field plus 2 and a Disqualification is number of racers in the field plus 3. Electronic transponders will be used. Transponders may be hired or purchased or compatible Mylaps units may be used.
International and long distance entrants may be able to secure a local kart or chassis (byo sails and mast) to borrow / hire for the event to minimize freight costs. These would be of limited availability and on a first in offer. Karts may be shared by different weight classes with only one being able to enter the marathon for points or shared with no points allocated.
Entry form and more details will be released soon.

It's only 4 weeks to early discount cut off- 15th March
and seven weeks to the event- 6-8th April.
Please get those entries in as the new resort management requires Saturday dinner numbers by the end of March.
They also don't allow greatly for late extras.
Looking forward to seeing you all & another great event.
Deb
Yep, sure did- you & Bernard were in the first few before New Year's as well as few others out of Sth East Qld.
We already have some Kiwis registered and a couple Victorians, while the WA crew have confirmed but no forms yet. Some regular New South Welshmen have been checking details & will probably happen soon. The locals here & Rocky are gradually happening, but I know they're going- just need a nudge. Should be a good turn out.
Deb
Early discount entry finishes 15th March- 3 weeks away.
Please get those forms in so I can keep the Mercure happy & have dinner numbers ready as they have requested.
NZ has a growing contingent already entered,so far we have 3 from Victoria, same from WA, almost double digits team travelling from Brisbane region,
20+ will be going down from Mackay & Whitsunday and the strong band of Rocky, Yeppoon locals- looks like some stiff competition for those prestigious Blokart trophies.
Entry form is attached for your convenience.
See you all soon

Stay tuned, I know we will have at least 6 Mexicans there! I'll try to get them to ebter before the early bird date. Me included!
Fairly normal wet season rain for us. We have been spared from bad wet seasons and cyclones in recent years.
We end up with heavy falls and fine days after.
I am getting sick of letting water out of the pool 150mm plus at a time. I just get it balanced and it overflows again. That is a small problem compared to the massive floods down south Qld and Northern NSW.
We have been lucky in tropical Queensland with the foul weather landing way further south.
Hope all those with weather problems overcome them.
Yeppoon is holding up well and the event is coming together nicely.
Many are topping up their blokart spares in preparation for what will be a great event.
Early discount finishes 15/3/2013
With entries from NZ, WA. Vic, NSW, Qld still happening, the competition is growing stronger.
Please get those forms in now & help the club comply with resort requests for catering numbers.
See you all in a few weeks
Really looking forward to this event.
Deb
Over 50 early entries so far and more locals yet to enter.
Keep those forms coming or email details & I can do them for you.
We have a great mix of competitors from the Worlds champion to first time racers, all keen for the challenge.
Cheers & good luck to all.
Deb
Only 2 days left for early discount.
Over 60 competitors took advantage of the early entry discount.
We are still accepting entries until Friday registration 5/4/2013 at the event,
so if you find you can make it & want to put the practice to use, come & join in another great blokart event.
See you all very soon.
Deb
Final details have been sorted with Mercure so here we have the Notice of Race, other details are on the entry form.

4 Whitsunday-
world champions to rookies.
This is going to be sooooo much fun.
See you all on the beach next week.
Deb
If the wind we have been having here in Bundaberg today is a precursor for the rest of the weekend, you are going to have a wild time over the next two days
Sixty four competitors for the event. That is a great achievement.
You guys and gals have a fat old time up there. You hear??
Hey it was nice to catch up and meet a lot of you on the beach, while I was in Yeppoon.
Glad the wind held up for you and it all looked great from the southern end of the beach.
Look forward to seeing you guys in Esperance WA sometime.
Cheers Chook
Chook and his mates made an interesting addition to our fleet on the lead up to the Open. Massive sails on those rigs and very well controlled. It was good to run with them.
Hopefully we will catch up with them in WA for the world's.
