Attempting to make fiberglass rims
Used a mountain bike rim to shape the plug and them made the mould from that.
Can not lay up the wheels yet as the weather is to cool for fiberglassing
I will post updates as I build the yacht. It will take a couple of months to build in my spare time. The cost to date has been $ 130.
I a sooooo very impressed Vic. will you build the rims to take a bigger shaft size than those plastic rims?
G'day Vic,
Your wheels look interesting - let me know how they go as I'd like to finish a yacht I started back in '02 after the worlds just for the hell of it.
Cheers.
Finished the plug today. Sealed and waxed. Ready to spray on mold release and lay up mold.
Bill what is the 2002 thingy look like.
Cheers
Vic
Bloody Hell Vic, No objection to your photos of your project showing your other fine machinery in the background (just to make us all envious) but you could have at least scrubbed the red mud off the tyres and the stains off the exhaust pipe and muffler.
My bike history:- First Bike in 1968, BSA 650 Gold Flash (instant death plunger rear suspension), Honda 250 (the one after the Nightmare "Dream"), 1967 ex NSW Police Trumpy Tiger 100 (paid $475), 1973 Kwaka 900 Z1 (only bought it because I couldn't find a BSA 750 Rocket 3 new at the time in 1973) rode it for 24,000 miles and sold it in mint condition for $1,450 (would get 10 times that for it today), last bike Yammy XS1 (now a collectors item) frame successfully modified by me to eliminate the instant death wobbles, with a TX front end and a 2 into 1 exhaust that produced the sweetest sound you could ever hope to hear from a twin cylinder motor bike engine. This bike is in Perth, still operational and under the care of my best mate. Our strategy is to keep it for the next 50 years and then sell it back to Yamaha for $1,000,000 or more as the item that saved their company.
Cheers Cisco.
Hi Cisco.
Sorry about the mud, but I do ride it. (decided to go on a bush track to have a look around the dust is from the plug, made is way into the shed when I was sanding.

Used epoxy resin
Maxxis hookworm tyres to be fitted when rims are finished

hows it moving along Vic, any progress to announce, your mate Crazy trav was so fast in every race I never beat him all day. Even when he sailed my mini it took 2 laps to take him out
The seat is out of the mould, just have to clean up a few small items. It has turned out pretty good I think. I will post a couple of pics in the next couple of days. I will start putting the wheels together towards the end of next week.
I will be back up for work and will be out the lake on 16th and 22nd november if any of you guys can make it
Cheers
Vic
the club race days are the weekends either side of your times in town , so we'd better organize an extra race day
Finished the first rim today, fitted and inflated tyre. I have to cut out bearing hole to fit bearings, Ended up better that I expected for first try.
Great stuff Vic,

Looks like its going well, this racing machine looks to be a ripper!
