Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehah !
Awesome !
Holy Moly I had fun ! She ran like a bought one. An experienced Class 5 fella from ALYC said she went well after we swopped yachts. Now I want a Class 5 as well.
Great wind today at Port Gawler for a newbie. 9 to 15 knots with some good gusts coming through exceeding that. Beautiful weather. Nice & hot. Surface was pretty or'nary. Chewed up by 4 X 4's, car tracks and quads doing donuts. Got a couple of loose teeth, but nothing a spot of Araldite won't fix. Lol. Some mud, but only got stuck twice. Flipped her once and was glad for the seat belt.....
The stretch of "beach" behind the mangroves.
Doqo 1 set up and rarin' to go.
Having a blast !
Well, that was a fantastic. I've been bitten by the bug. Had a great time.
Thank you Paul for the detailed build instructions.
Thanks to everyone who gave advice & encouragement.
Cheers to the fellas who showed me the ropes today and made my first sail a fun event.
I'm going to need to make some adjustments and minor alterations, but that's all to do with performance improvement and comfort. I'll report back as things transpire, in another thread, in a different Universe, in some other time.
Cheers
Pete
Job Done!
Looks like it was great fun and gave you some serious Joy.
It would look great with a sport-sail with battens.
Now you need to get a video going...
It was great fun mate, thanks. Now I need to sort myself a proper sail (with battens) and get the seat set up so I don't have my rear end jutting forward of the seat "bowl" and my spine taking the knocks.
If anybody could please point me in the right direction to obtain a reasonably priced sport sail, I'd be most grateful.
Good stuff Pete
Tinkering for improvements is a lot of fun as well
Getting your butt down in the well and a sail with battens and a shorter foot
will add to the enjoyment Great job
