I had a Kevlar Sail laying about the Shed and getting in the way.. I had recut it as a Light Wing Sail. It was not a screaming success so I got about it the other day and now have this to get sewn
So what is the Verdict from the Peanut Gallery
Ron
PS I might get to post a pic of it on Schrodinger's Cat
Kevlar ??? Looks like monofilm to me. Luff curve;Bit hard to tell from that angle but the top looks like it could be ok, bottom may need a slight tuck in. That's my 2cent worth.
Give it a go Ron.
Thanks Clem,
A label on the sail said Kevla Tough??? Just going on that..
The reason for the high rake on the Foot is to clear my head and keep the Lough down as low as possible.
I failed to mention that the Lough Pocket has yet to be put in place. Not much point until the seems and joins are sewn..
The lough Curve is the formula that Landyacht designed and I kept the Pattern I have used on previous sails.
2 cents worth??? More 20 but who's countingRon
Ron
PS what has happened to our boat builder friend who use Carbon Fiber??
I think you'll find that the kevlar was in the bits youve already cut off
as a laymans guide , white fibres -polyester,gold fibres-kevlar, black fibres-carbon.
it does look odd on the foot, but it could be distorted by the lens. keep in mind you do need to see where you are going.
its luff by the way
Paul,
The4 English language always scared me. Lough/Luff dough/doe Hough/Huff. That crowd are sure confused aren't they??
As stated before, the high angle is for head clearance, the Mono Film is for vision, the Low Toe/Luff Pocket is for good sail area.. Success in all areas-------------------Well vision may be a bit sketchy. Near as I can make out it is 6Sqm
