Right after much hunting and frustration I have finally found a Manufacturer and a supplier of 6304-2NSENRC3 20 x 52 x 15 rubber sealed with snap ring groove and snap ring Ball Races. My intent is to machine out my Plastic Rims to suit 52mm bearings with inner and outer spacers, the Snap Rings will act as Flanges. This process should increase (Not necessarily) the width of the Bearing Spacings. This will improve the smoothness and quietness of the wheels.
Any thoughts on this matter??

Email Conts Re Nachi Bearings;

Ron,

You want a 6304-2NSENRC3 ( 20 x 52 x 15 rubber sealed with snap ring groove and snap ring ). We have heaps of stock but we are a wholesaler so can i suggest purchasing them through Tas Bearing and Chain in Launceston who are our preferred distributor in Tasmania. If this is inconvenient to you then you could ask the guys at BSC Burnie. These bearings will do 12,000 RPM which should be more than enough to handle your application.

Regards

Nachi Australia

PS; I could be wrong but I calculated a possible of 919kmh X Blow Out =

Thanks for that Ron. When I read the "12,000rpm" bit I was worried it wouldn't cover us

Ron I have a load of 52OD/20ID bearings left over from a failed wheel experiment. how many do you need.
Be wary of attempting to machine your plastic wheels.are they fallshaws?
if they have a centre designed to take a 50mm bearing , your better option is to fit a 6004 bearing with a fallshaw nylon insert. these are all off the shelf commonly available bits . let us know what your trying to achieve befor forking out the bucks as all these tests have been done and reported on .
cheers uncle paul

Too late to late she cried and waved her wooden leg>> I have ordered my bearings and am about to pick them up. Couldn't find anything to mach the OD of those Barrow Bearings so went with these as the Snap Ring Does the same as the Flange. I have a set of Sysmic's ordered as well so if this fails I will have a set of rims that will replace the Cheap Chinese Junk.

Ok! After a few false starts the Cheap Chinese Rims have been machined to suit High Speed Bearings. There was plenty of material to work with ansd I also found that the Hub Flange (Section of inner rim to Hub Disc is around 5mm thick.

I think this upgrade will be strong enough to cope with all I can throw at them.Only Time and Trial will tell.

ron ,make sure you dont overinflate those chinese rims past about 25psi. as they will start to distort. warm days will be worse.
good 4ply tyres will tend to crush the rim when inflated.
this will become a problem as you will probably need 30psi on sand.
i would suggest only using them as a front wheel.
It looks like a good solution, if you have a lathe handy. how much did the bearings cost

Thanks Paul,
Yeah! Over inflation could be a problem but keep in mind Here in Tassie we don't have the heat problem you have in WA. Summers we are hard put to see 32c + More than 3 days in a season. I guess being further South and higher Coastal Humidity keeps the Temps pretty steady. I wouldn't recommend those rims for high speed work but I will push them as far as I can and keep the page posted. As it stands with then Airfield-----well I will probably be using Schrodingers Cat in Grass work or fun beach stuff, pretty much low speed stuff.
If I remember correctly the Bearings cost about $12 each.

Funny thing is we put them through a lathe and the wheels are now running truer than before, just shows what accuracy if needed for a 2.5kph Wheel Barrow but they will carry 530Kg?? Supposedly.

Ron
PS I can post Bearing Detail tomorrow.

thats a good price on the bearings, well worth the experiment.
If you have another rim , try machining it all the way through , then glue a section of plumbers white pipe inside with plumbers glue to act as your bearing stop.. even TP1 couldnt break that part of the experiment when we did it

Dog Damn! Chook, What a Nit Picker you are. What the Hell would I do for a Scribe if I did that???
I fitted the wheels and trued the Laser Level up the other day and Aligned the wheels again about 25mm Toe in at 5mtrs. Soon have the Cat back on the Grounds again.
