Always liked wing ideas, I built and raced this formula 500 in the mid 70s it was the first one in aus to have a wing and full role cage,Now you would not find one that does not have them. Some one has to take the first stephttp://www.boulderspeedway.com/birmingham%20v.html
Still waiting for a couple of parts to arrive(10 tooth sprocket and chain) Started filling in the nose of the seat today and knocked a reverse wing tazzy oak back axle, I am happy with it so far
cheers

Not a lot of progress over xmas, mainly working on the 5.
Starter fitting the main wing control and chain adjuster. I have fitted it above the seat to have a little more room inside it will eventually be covered. Still waiting for a bit more chain.
Cheers

Still at it, Received the chain I was waiting for. Finished of the main wing control, I am now starting to fit the front and rear wheels and axles. Once this is done the wing and stay wires can be attached. Progress has been a little slow as we will start our class5 racing season next week that's kinda taken priority.
Only the front end and flap control to go. then pull it to bits , clean up and paint.
Still don't no why I am doing this?
Cheers

It's one of the things that really annoys me about this forum....I can't just pop round and see these things in the flesh! I am as intrigued as a very intrigued thing (too early here) to see this one running!

TP1,
For a person that seems to be intelligent you certainly ask some Dumb Q's?
The Eyes do not see they focus a signal to a sensitive area (retina) at the back of the Eye Ball, this signal is then converted and sent to the Brain which in itself then interprets the signal and gives you an image to ponder.. There is no such thing as Colour this again is a phenomena which is created by refraction of the light when reflected from the surface of objects. We as animals are some of they few that are lucky enough to be able to interpret these refractions as Colour where as in fact there are So Called Colours that we do not see which other animals are able to witness. Being as everything is made up of shorter and shorter Wave Lengths there are things that exist which we can not see as our eyes are not sensitive enough. Just imagine what sort of mess the Universe would look like if we could see all things that exist..
Ron.
PS; least ways that is my understanding of the subject..(Basically)
ya heathen, Vic.
which of the new yachts will be called the "BERMINATOR"
i might even get the sticker done for you
Started sanding everything . Picked up the primer and Black paint today. While it was all together I weighed it and it came in at 44kg wing and all.
aus230,
From what you said in another thread..
So what if it isn't suited to racing??? Perhaps we can start a Drag Racing fad for Land Yachts... They Drag just about anything else[}:)]

Hi Nick
If you follow out events at Lefroy, It is organized each year as a speed event, plus a marathon the rest of the event remains social at this time. The last event was a state tital. But normally the event only apply's to speed and a marathon and social sailing
This is the cheapest mini I have built . Not counting the wheels(which I got from the tip) $170, not a lot of money for a hobby
Cheers
Vic
Murry's lefroy yacht
Pauls Vindicator
Couple of little thing to do,
Adjust back wheel angle(adjust it to 12deg)
Paint the wheels
Fit flap control handle
Tidy up front wheel assembly.
Apart from that it is pretty well done, I can park it up for awhile and finish it before I go up to Lefroy later in the year.
Its been a fun project and total cost has been around $250
It may be a bit on the heavy side.(48kg)
Cheers
