Hi welcome to the forum
I would guess its possible but I think it would be excessively twitchy much like a forklift rear steering
very manoevrable but scary at speed
Not sure why you would want to do this do you have a particular reason?
There are some pictures of older style ice yachts around that use stern steering, I'm making the assumption that caster angles are not critical on blades like they are on wheels. I would think that a stern steering land yacht would handle like a forklift or shopping trolley with very poor directional stability.
I cannot seem to find an image of it, but on Scrap heap challange, (some time ago) there was a land yacht challange.
In this episode there was footage from about the 60's, I think, of a commercially made yacht with rear wheel steer. It basically consisted of a circular frame, and two wheels at the front and a single rear wheel. I should point out that most of the footage was of them capsizing and hurtling the occupants onto the sand
hi again, i was just curious, but was was thinking of 2 wheels at the back with the whole wheel axle assembly rotating on a central bearing, pivot, then castor wouldn't be a problem would it?.as i said, just curious.....T..
when front steering with a single wheel was introduced to landyachts you would have been able to hear all the brains going "doh" at the same time It just works so much better
