what wimps we are always looking for flat open country, them men got balls.

I wonder what is their reasoning behind it all

Think i can see myself in that class. At least in the mind, it's how I think

Seemed like it was an alloy construct.

WAY COOL! aus.....never seen them flown like that before and possibly the machines ive seen were of a different era. They are wery mod and seem a lot more
engineered and tweeked.

On Gizmo's post doe's anyone know the dudes and what is their story, has to

be very interseting....i would think. edit i see a 1978 date, so tht's it?

This one is for you gibberjoe. I will try to download the video but the quality is sure to be degraded. the master copy is still on a 20+ year old VHS cartrige. It may be comlpetely gone by now.

Too bad I don't speak French. I wonder how long they were under sail before resting? It looks like it takes alot of team work and concentration to sail that craft.

Might be an interesting configuration for a FISLY Mini? If only one outrigger can touch the ground at a time you could get a lot of stability and stay within the letter, if not the spirit of the 5.6m rope rule..........

Story of big yacht.
The first long-range expedition yacht wheel was founded in 1967 by Jean de Boucher. Its route lay through the sands of the Sahara. In the campaign was attended by 23 athletes for 12 boats, only 8 of them reached the finish line, having three thousand kilometers from Algeria to Mauritania.
The first travel athletes were on light single land yachts, mostly converted from conventional ice yacht. But in 1973, has already become a traditional route of the Aral Sea - Caspian Sea was new, this time many local wheel boat. On this unit athletes Nelipa B., G. Romanenko and Alexander Lazarev 22 days have passed 853 km from Guriev to Komsomolsk-on-Ustyurt on sand of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan through Ustyurt. Unlike their other yacht was a three-wheel and had two soft sails - mainsail and staysail. At a height of 9 m Mast total reached 23 m2 sail!
In the autumn 1978, we learned about unparalleled 1,000-mile journey - this time through the Gobi desert. Three Polish athlete traveler - B. Skarzhinsky paleontologist and geologist R. Lunevsky and journalist Boris Piglovsky - conquered the desert on the land yacht "Gobi". This was facilitated by flat terrain and prevailing there north-westerly winds. Their boat with a red sail within two weeks raced at speeds up to 60 km / h, having sustained a severe test dunes. After the expedition crew of "Gobi" was awarded the badges "Honoured Master of Sports of the MPR," This trip was the beginning of the organization of sailing in Mongolia: Polish athletes in gratitude for their help in organizing the expedition gave his Mongolian comrades spare boat, a replica of "Gobi" .
No one wants to do something like that today?

I apologize Paul for the late reply. Well, almost. It's portuguese :-) (This is indeed a very popular misspelling mistake non-portuguese speakers do commit, so don't worry.) If it helps, think about Betelgeuse... Portuguese it's written the other way around :-) No, I haven't become a sailor yet. I'm still reading and reading and reading anything about landsailing that I step on, cruising the landscape will come as soon as I save some spare cash.
