Regarding tire profile, tire pressures etc.

It is my understanding that using a narrow rim and a fat tire (Profile Diag' 1) can lead to instability in that the rim is able to pass sideways across the tire giving some what of a rolling feel to forward movement. ??



Where as using a wider Rim (Diag' 2 ) will give a more stable ride if not a little harder in the ride.??
Your thoughts.
The above is something that came out of Automobile tires i.e. Fitting wide tires on narrow rims. The effects would not however be as dramatic but none the less there should be some effect.

you got it in one there nicki-poo, you have to pump D1 up really hard to get it stable , and subsequently get a hard ride and less traction, where-as D2 can give the same stability at lower pressures, thus less vibration to the sail, smoother ride
