Well done to Landyacht and Wedgetail for getting us all moving and onto the Lake before winter hits.
It was a great weekend and I certainly had a ball.
So glad that we got to see Vic's winged mini but the wind gods didn't play the game.
The grandstand "gold seating" had sold out in a flash to see it's debut.....
Fantastic workmanship. Its a real credit to you.
Paul turns around just as "Little Stig" slips quietly away with his craft.
George in "Spirit of Christmas"
Wedgetail in his promo
This is the yacht that Michael (pictured), built at the Esperance Farm Training Centre. A fantastic effort and his first sail at Lake Lefroy was in the moonlight on Saturday evening in a really brisk wind. It performs really well too.
All sorts came out of the woodwork.
Mick also travelled up from Esperance.
Paul at the office.
Thanks for a great weekend guys.
A pretty cold morning.
My "Saline by" with it's low wind kit. 6.2 square metres of camed sail.
First one to camp Friday, I was keen.
Thanks for the great weekend guys and visotors. Thanks for letting me borrow a few yachts to sail. Hopefully there will be more wind for the marithon plus speed event at the end of September. Looking foward to that
Cheers

Cant wait........ for the next meet. hope to be there and join the raz-ma-taz
still working towards it all, roll on October
Now, there's what I talkin'! Good Lad Chook.. Nice pic's, however I would have at least thought you'd run to a Handy Cam[}:)]. Yeah Right! Never satisfied! Hey? I like the Sunset.
Ron
Yeh Ron, I'm saving up for the Go pro HD2.
I have a few hours to burn during the stopover in Singapore, on my way to see the World Championships in Cherrueix. So I'm going to check them out there.
The excuse for the trip is my son is playing county cricket for Hampshire in England and we are going to watch him. Just happens that the Farnborough air show is on then as well. What a blow eh?????
So in short, I'll up my game for ya big fella.[}:)]
You are always welcome Vic, it was nice of you to trim a few more Kmh out of it for me. Cheers.
Nice Shooting "Charlie Borman" I use a HD720P , mind you it isn't to fond of being bounced about..
Ron
little wind report for Vic , tuesday was a glorious 15-20kph, then wednesday was officially the start of THE WINDY SEASON
sorry you missed by only 1 day.
i would have loved to see how chooks 6.2m went
for those who have been asking about cammed sails, chokk just recut the foot of the sail, didnt touch the luff curve and refitted the cams.
it was a really great upwind ,downwind and reaching performer, in the 4-8knt range
Ta Landyacht, but I have stuffed up here.
The sail in the above photos of my yacht ("Saline by), is a 6.9 square meter cammed sail which I used on Friday (when these couple of snaps were taken). But I had left the mast extension home so the boom was to low for me. This sail is completely unaltered with just the bottom batten removed. It works just as well as my 6.2 square meter (pictured laying behind Michael's, and which I used all the long weekend) which as you said has just the foot altered. The cams were never removed from either of these sails.
This photo of it was taken last October when it placed 5th in the min'is
I also have an old 5.7 recut Gaastra cammed, on the first mini I built and they all pull like trucks. The Blue yacht with the orange sail is also a 4.5 cammed sail.
A few more, compliments of Mr Carpet's wife.
Monday on the causeway, in very light conditions.
Lyndon, George and Michael, in full flight
Off north towards the island.
Chook
Paul's big wheeler at "Central station" with Little Stig disembarking. .
the winds were terribly light, but the no 1 pond was really smooth and dry, on day 3 we had a bit more oomph so we ventured out to the island.
young mick was 3rd there so he is now officially a landyachter
top effort young fella
Yes Landyacht he did a fantastic job for his first effort.
He arrived Saturday night and was down on the pond with us straight away.
This was the only time over the whole weekend, that wind came up a bit.
The sailing. Very light is an "understatement" when I'm from the coast Paul.
This log started at a quarter to nine at night with the full moon.
When you view it, click the "satellite" box in the ground log (red squiggly line) and roll your mouse wheel. It will display where we are on earth.
As you can see the top speed is a phantom spike from the graph and incorrect.
(I can see why any records require 3 GPS's to confirm them)
connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/186741858
You can even see where I stopped to take Stephens call.
A great time together and can't wait for Sept 29th- Oct 1st meet back at Lefroy.
my computer is too slow to get it , but I believe that since you brought an esperancian who didnt flinch at sailing at night in almost subzero winds ,for his first salt sail I feel it is only fair that you guys now loose your SC status
i believe it only fair that since one of the lefroy representatives went to bed instead of sailing that we now hold the title until further notice
It should be noted that the bridgetown chapters representative did come to camp with a generator AND a caravan and should consider himself on notice that he has narrowly escaped SC status by virtue that no wind happened on sunday night
thus preventing the lefroy chapter from losing their newly recieved status
Hey Chook that GPS stuff was pretty cool, Maybe you can give me a lesson on how to do it next time we catch up.
Cheers
Vic
