after looking where a few people sail, lake lefroy australia, gagligri sardinia,
where participants have provided the grid locations, and they can actually upload
few action photos, may be an interesting way to recieve a bit of publicity.
This is the ideal site for us all to work up here. Whether its a beach, paddok old
airstripor salt lake, register them here for everyones enjoyment.
Not sure why no one else has put any locations here, but I'll start off with a couple of mine. The first two images I've sailed, the next two I've walked on and the surface is awesome clay pan, and the last two are ones I've spied from 'the opposite ridge' but look great. Will be checking the last two out in the next few weeks when I get away. For those who might find it useful, there is a scale bar in the lower right hand corner (above the 'Google earth') that is ~100m.
EDIT: Fifth image has the scale bar/ruler line in the centre of the claypan and is over 1200m long.
Here's my bit of the world for Land Yachting - Elvington in Yorkshire. Nicely provided for us by the Yanks who spent several million on the runway and infrastructure then promptly abandoned it without using it. Left one of the longest runways in England at 3km for motorbikes, cars and land yachts!
Cheers Col
I was thinking about something similar to this some time ago. I was thinking that something alond the lines of this website would be cool:
4x4earth.com/
I'm not sure how we could go about it, (i'm not a web designer) but i wonder if something like this could be included in the Seabreeze site. I believe this would be of use to the surfing fraternity as well.
