I saw add in a magazine for a tile business, It might make an interesting land yacht seat, just get rid of the wings.
I can't imagine what purpose the wings serve when its used as an outdoor seat?? I expect they'd be more usefull when its used as a landyacht seat.
if those wings were shorter and rolled in more, I would be taking orders for a bulk delivery
its certainly in the comfort zone we're looking for
Had a chat with the tile company today, they are Italian tiles and the brochure is produced in Italy, so I would expect the seat would also be Italian designed and made.
But they are going to try and find some more info for me...
I think I'd rather leave the wings as they are.....they would facilitate hiking out and thereby increase speed......at the expense of drag...Hummm
I can remember in a previous life...or was it a parallel universe...anyway....in the Moth racing scene that I was involved in we were putting just such devices on to gain vastly increased performance. I'd love to get hold of one of those at my local tip shop
It'a interesting to see the thought thing happening in this forum
I have a couple of questions regarding the "seat" how with seat belts
on, could one hike out ?? Could innovation dictate that we could see a
trapeze being used soon ......I would like to see that!!....
back in ancient times, we did lots of hiking out, the class 6 circa1981-1983 almost all had swinging seats that slid on a rail out to the edge of the wheel. The great Stan Sharp even had a system where the swinging seat controled the mast rotation on a wing mast. all on a yacht smaller that a class 5.
Then Bill finch sat in the middle of the yacht and lay his weight over the back, and left all the swingers behind.
for those sailing production blokarts , with a standard mast, you can actually improve your upwind performance by leaning to leeward to reduce the mast bend in a gust
the thing i disliked about leaning out was having to loosen the seatbelt. One day , I hit a wetspot, and as the yacht spun out I shot out the back of the yacht, feet caught on the seatbelt and the salt did the rest. 4 weeks lying on my stomach, till the back healed, after 30 years it still troubles on a cold morning
