Well it is an Island too, with lots of beaches , wind and short on people but long on pubs !

Your 5.6m rope loop rule is very appealing to us as well.
I, as well as many other Australians, am of Irish descent and visiting the Emerald Isle is something I would love to do. It will have to go on my bucket list of things to do before I go to the hot place.
Your beaches look really great but the air temperature has me worried. Can you tell us a bit about when your windy season is and what conditions are usual.

Well we are adopting the KISS approach re miniyachts and hope to keep it that way for a while as do the French, UK and other Europeans. KISS !
Keep It Simple Stupid !
The idea is if the footprint of the wheels is within the loop of rope , well thats it !
SO in the pictures above photo 1 is closest, because all the rope needs do is keep outside the footprint (where the wheel touches the ground).
X-sails also fit into this. So you can have whatever you want once the wheel foot print fits the loop ! Simple If you want a 3m or 10m sail its up to u !
We used to make em but it works out better to buy and keep them similar- materials cost too much and getting sails made one off is crazy dear, Who needs to buy several different diameter 5m lengths of expensive aluminium for every mast section you want to make, sod that leave it to th eexperts!
Our windy season is Oct - May - sometimes more but we generaly stay off the popular beaches June July August and head for the quieter ones. SW Ireland and the Dingle peninsular area in 2 weeks, last week the very top of the North at Benone - Castlerock, August - Donegal in the NW, April - Bettystown on the East 30 km N of Dublin. We dont mind !
Throw in trips to De PAnne in Belgium, La Franqui in France and Racing at Hoylake, Liverpool so far this year - we are up for it .!

. witha skinny front wheel or a tiny bit off the front I reckon my Lake lefroy mini should just squeeze in
paul you should shoe it in, my understanding it is where the wheel touches the ground at the bottom on the widest --longest contact point, not half way up the rim.

Correct - No FISLY rules for miniyachts ..yet !
We bring it up at every FISLY meeting for the past few yrs.
So as a side ba,r countries have been meeting and have discussed the need for simple rules to get the ball rolling- hence the 5.6m rope.
Its on the agenda again for a FISLY meet in July.
No miniyacht class in the worlds either, only C2,3 ,5,8 Standart,Promo - but european countries now have regular miniyacht races - at most events. Great way to get people involved in the sport- its a fun class. Mind you when you use google translate to translate mini chars (miniyacht in french) from French it says mini tank !
