Good luck to the Aussie crew, and also to the rest of the world (just not as much ). Hope the weather Gods are kind.

Wish I could make it for a look but I'll be in Europe during the second half of August (for a conference), hoping to check out De Panne, Belgium afterwards and the Demuysere Cup 25th - 26th Aug .

The WIND GOD Came to my rescue today with a 20knot North by Northwesterly SeaBreeze

As the pic shows I had a double run from Smithton to Stanley Around 12km per run

I did get a bit of video footage but it was pretty crap but the GPS pic shows all

No Cisco,
The Wind comes from where ever and when ever it feels like.. One has to be able to go at the drop of a hat.. I will have to study the beach in other winds.
I will have to go down to Ocean Beach at Strahan and try it in a South Westerly as well.

Nice work big fella!!!!

I like your plot, looks like you had a nice long run.
A nice part of the world too, looking on Google Earth mate.

I keep my plots too, just to see when and where I sail and how I did in the conditions. It's amazing just how much ground we cover annually, while sailing.
I don't let the wife see the amount of hours spent under kites buggying, and sailing though.
It adds up to a whole lot of days.

Glad you're getting a sail in. The weather hasn't been very favourable here and with the storms and huge seas there isn't much smooth beach to use.
I'm VERY envious

Remember, if it is smooth that you want, it is only 400km away[}:)]

OK! Here are a couple of snippets I managed to retrieve from Anthony Beach Vid' Clips

I think the sail shows up reasonably well. There is a bit to give some idea of the beach..

Don't get too bored..

The sail, boom, and gloves look great!

Hard to see too much of the beach, since the yacht didn't tip over, tho[}:)][}:)]

Sorry Ron, the devil made me say that... One of my gopro vids started with me kicking the camera face down when I got in, then a whole tour of the dry lake bed from 5" straight down.

Yeah John. Tell me about it..That damned camera was a wast of money. It is one of those eBay HD 720P, F2.0 f+3.4mm units, it works well if it is strapped to your Scone and walk about the place filming but use it where there is vibration and it quickly locks up and shoots miles of the same 20 seconds of footage.

Is there a Sports waterproof camera about that will cop the conditions that Land Yachting presents. Lord only knows that even Lefroy or Gilles couldn't be smoother than Anthony Beach.
Ron
PS, If any of you folks are headed down this way for a holiday let me know and may be we could hook up for a shot at on of the local beaches.

Thanks for the offer, very tempting! Unfortunately, I'll only be getting there for the Sunday races by the look of things. And I've never sailed anything other than my mini's and the iron chook so not sure I'd be even safe enough, especially if there are a few yachts out and about

The more I think about it, the more I'd like to have a go.

What harm could it do...except damage someone elses yacht. Its not my safety Im worried about.

Lacy if someone is willing to give you a go then they also know the ricks but I doubt there are any brick walls to hit. Go For It! or I will have to give you a good kicking after you've done kicking yourself.

Looks like it would be bloody pricey though - I wonder what market they see for it?
