Hi Everybody,

I am starting this thread for obvious reasons. I had a rave about Yeppoon in another thread. Will try to find it again and copy it to this thread and add some photos if I can figure out how to do that.

Will also do a post on Bundaberg and Gladstone sailing spots.

So how about it guys and gals tell us about your favourite spots and show us some piccys.

Great idea!

Maybe we could start a sticky thread for each state - we have already seen some good spots identified in Central Vic. Just imagine, summer sailing in Vic/SEQ, winter in Broome or Weipa or Cooktown maybe, easter shared with Lake Gilles and the WA venues, then off to NQ via Gawler, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks Bazl,
Here's hoping the idea will catch on.
I have uploaded some photos to the photo section but I have not yet figured out how to put them into a post. Can somebody help me with that???

The photos are taken at our most regular sailing spot, is "Lions Park" which is located on the highway, opposite the airport, on the edge of town as you are coming to Bundy from Childers.

The "Touch Football Association" says they have a lease over the ground and that we are not welcome there. Lease or not, no one can deny access to public parkland. I have only seen them use the area where we sail once in the last four years, however we do take care not to sail on the fields they irrigate and have lights over. If you are visiting here, please do the same.

We have at least 8 blokarts in town and 5 of us are regulars. When we have a get together, because of the location right on the highway, we generally attract a good audience which has resulted in the sale of 2 secondhand karts.

The ground is very level and relatively smooth and speeds up to 60 kmh are achieved on windy days (20-30 knots). Picnic tables and public toilets are right there and if you feel the urge, MacDonalds (chew and spew) and Brothers Sports Club (guzzle and upchuck) are about 500m away.

There are some terrific beaches to sail on here too but they are very much subject to tidal conditions and wind direction. I will detail them in future posts when I have learnt how to post images.

If anybody is visiting here be sure to let us know and we will give you the tour.

In the meantime, Don't be good, be WICKED in a blokart.

Open the picture and immediately under the picture is the line "Want this image in the forums? Use this code:" cut and paste the code which starts with [IMG and ends with /IMG] into your post.

No I think you have to cut and paste the images one at a time.

Excellent pics!! How is the traction on the grass as you take turns. Do you spin out at all?

Traction is good on the grass and controlled turns are the norm. However if you want to wind it up from one end of the field on a windy day and then do a sharp turn milliseconds before you crash into the fence for the benefit of the spectators you are risking coming to grief in a serious fashion as happened to me one day.

Was a really nice windy day and had attracted a few enthusiastic spectators. Did a turn at the bottom of the field and saw a lady get out of her car with camera at the ready at the opposite end of the paddock. Who can resist that sort of temptation to show off.

Wound it up, must have got to 60 k, lifted the wheel a couple of times, reached the other end, threw the turn at the last second or half, perfect 180, but still travelling in the same direction (backwards around 30 k) with a solid log fence and some trees about 3m away (see photo).

Mind goes into hyperdrive, "You DICKHEAD. You are doing this with NO HELMET ON! Only thing YOU can do is duck your dick head and hope for the best."

Obey command, kart passes through gap in fence with 100mm clearance either side, head takes glancing blow from horizontal log, many stars, some blood, lady with camera jumps in car and pisses off quick, other spectators rush over and say "Are you alright mate?"

Cisco says "Ahh, Si Senor, Eees all in a days woork."

Moral to the story:- "Don't get too cocky and wear a bash hat!!"

Thanks for the question hillsy, we gotta keep this thing ALIVE!!

Far out!! Glad you're ok. (Great story though )
When we're racing around the marks we're always trying to go as fast as posible and make tight turns so spinouts are not uncommon. In fact last time I went out, if it wasn't for the belt I would have been spat out the back like a rag doll. But luckily there are no fences anywhere close by

This is a pano of the DHL carpark in the daylight, I'm facing straight into the SE wind approach over the mounds of dirt where a building is to be erected (bugger).
To the right it goes down a gentle slope with about 3/4 of the size again. Plenty of room really, but in a 20-25kt SE you get to over 50kph, that's when those garden beds and wheel blocks turn into Uluru and damn it hurts if you hit one and then another.
We can make several various track routes depending on wind and number of karts and the surface is perfect .
See the movie on youtube 'blokart the night shift' for action shots.

p.s. hey cisco, put youz helmut on youz heed... youz are zo zilly

Cheers Brett
