Here bare some pictures of a folding type Lake Lefroy Mini which we built 8 of back in 2005. . the homage to a blokart is rather obvious. when we built them , people wanted a fold up yachtwith handsteering, etc ,etc. when we built the next generation we used foot steering that we developed on this yacht.
this one is called Ladybird, and still sails well, It has been well looked after, and recently sold for its original building price
4m sail and a bit heavy at 38kg.
It also has a sidecar that bolts on the right hand side
Pictures of my son with my LLmini. This shows the third generation sail and seat. The sail is now a little too flat and the seat too heavy. The brake is mainly for laughs. It has been a lot of fun both building and sailing. Just wish I lived near a dry lake where I could really see what it would do.
My Second Mini (No Name yet)

Comments - Love the way this ones seat sits on top of the chassis, the seat feels much stronger than my last mini due to the extra support. Everything works great on the yacht. I don't think it looks half bad to either
Moral of the story: Build one for yourself!!!!!
Sorry if the pictures are low quality, it really does have nice paint
The Waratah Sandfly 200. Built for under $200 from junk around the yard,a$10 sailboard off Ebay and $2O for the sail courtesy of the Salvos shop at mornington,There are no welds in the construction all joits are held togther with Tech screws and fish plates. The design is a combination of other carts featured on this site
Well finally got them assembled. WHEW!!!!!
They are Lake Lefroy mini's, made to Paul Day's plans and I'm in Esperance Western Australia (South east coast of WA). I got them assembled this arvo and there was no wind, so just a photo shoot so far.
Just need a mast extension for "Whats Blew" and a bit of tiding up and seat padding on the rest. I included the stainless kart as well.
I rotated the brake lever mounting bracket on the rear axleto the back of the square tube. The brake lever then goes back under the axle when fully down and this lifts the wheel clear of the ground for parking as it locks forward over centre. (Well in light wind it will work anyway).
The extension on Code red needs a bit of a trim back. I got a bit excited when I weasured it as I wanted it to clear my helmet. But not when I'm standing up!!!!
It was good fun building them and I had a few beers tonight to wet their heads.
Cheers, Chook Henderson
Hi, I'm in southern California and got this cart a couple of months ago for $475 USD. It's all aluminum and rolls along well and very smooth with its tall tires. The mast is 3 piece, the rear axles pull out and so does the front tube. I sail at El Mirage dry lake, about an hour from my home. It's a Great place with overnight camping on the lake, No Speed Limit, no nails in your firewood. Ultra Lights and small airplanes land out there, along with the para sail cars. The lake is like 1 3/4 by 4 miles. A few dirt bikes and quads use it, but mostly stay on the hills/trails around the lake. Had it going 41mph with a GPS onboard. I want to re-work the plywood seating area to make it a bit wider and I need a tie down spot for my ice chest. The seating cushions are just thrown on for now, till I get things re-worked
"Beer-5" Built in 2010, first sail was April 2011 due to a flooded El Mirage dry lake. Built to Cl5 size, but has a tapered carbon mast. Seat is aluminum, and the back is adjustable.
The 'Mojave Magic'. Class 5 size, adjustable mast base, swept axles, several sails in the quiver.... Local venue is El Mirage dry lake.
Looks the Part 'yank but does it act the Part.. Still Pic's are one thing but How's-about some Action Footage I will be spending a lot of time online in the next day or two and will need some entertaining.
Catch you the week after next, that should give you time to cobble something together.
