After class 5 building was over Landyacht pulled this little guitar shaped yacht out.
I was informed this is a 'Micro Mini' 1100x1100 named 'Black Oops'
I am interested in building one of these are they a ridiculously small but looks like so much fun for big and old.
I raced home with this tiny yacht put on some wheels and set-up some rigging.
Here are some pictures from the claypan on Sunday. Sorry no action shots as I was out there solo.
My goals were to:
-find out how this thing handled and performed
- not crash
-go 50kph
-not break anything
- have fun.
I achieved 3 out of 5:
- Yacht handled well with shock cord steering dampner steered well but found it difficult to point upwind
-didn't crash
-could only achieve max speed of 47.7kph
-broke the seat as cracked the join doing high speed high G turns ( I will fix it before I return it Landyacht)
-lots off fun would be great to see a small fleet of these buzzing around the lake.
Notes:
-Fibreglass boom was too flexible when sheeted in hard as it bent upward increasing belly in the sail
-Experimented with moving pulley blocks on the boom reduced flexing
-Sail tended to backwind as speed increased.
-Good fun with weight cranked back and front wheel just touching.
Overall wonderful little yacht to sail for big and old. The 'Micro Mini' is now on my build list with: new mini5.6, class 5, and Big wheels for class 5.
Ben.
Ben.
hi, congratulations is really cute and has the right size for children and teens
.It w'll be an idea to have one to try them out, so it can be disassembled in the trunk of macchina.Great work, greetings from Italy. Cheers
Ben- you should give Chook a call, and ask him to bring his micro along next time you meet up!
its a real hoot!
directional stability isnt one of its strong points.....

Steven N, has done more sailing in mine than anybody. I think he needed new sleeves in his "sperm suit" after sailing it though.
They tend to drag on the rear wheels.
I wore sn out that trip to Lefroy........both on the rear wheels of the mini mini and hammered his eardrums too with the pulse jet.
Bryan also has a "clipped" blokart.
Great fun sailing for a laugh.
WoW Chook! I love it
This is what I love about Land Yachting
I am soo excited to make my own one of these little pocket rockets.
I like your power sailing style Chook.
Ben.
I like your power sailing style Chook.
Yeh, not very conventional, but I always have a hoot.
We have to enjoy every day, as life is so short. My younger brother died from a bee sting early in October and only reinforces my beliefs.
Get out there, experiment and have fun.
I like your sailing passion as well. Meeting your folks just proved to me that they fostered some adventure into you.
Nothin' better than a day, with lots of cambered square meters to get me cranking. Just love it!!!
ben you just set a new minimini speed record, beating bryans 46kph,but you have to break 40 in both directions to win the challenge.check your gps plots .
PS its for sale, without that mast,as that mast is for lil stigs yacht
