Hi,
We are going to France in August and wanted to go sand yachting there. Has anyone tried it on any of the French beaches - if so which ones are good? I've tried looking on the net but my French isn't too good when it comes to sand yachting technicalities! Thanks for your help.

Northern france is the world centre of sandyachting. almost all the northern beaches have clubs. To contact clubs it would be best to go through the Fisly links for clubs . the web site for FISLY can be set for your language. Sorry I cant give you a better email adress for contacts as our puch for the first of the month was the harddrive on the main pooter crashing terminally. Iyou can contact the Royal sandyacht at DePanne they are a great bunch and you can sail off to france and back. ask for the Demusyere's and ell them Paul Day said to say hello. If youve not had any luck in the next few weeks , email and we will see what can be organized

If you email "jeqs" who is a contributor to this site but actually lives in Chile, I am sure he would tell you the best locations to go to in France. He has posted quite a few photos of what appear to be hire land yachts in France.

It's pretty big time over there so you won't have too much trouble finding good spots.

Be sure to take heaps of photos and post them on the site and tell us all about it when you get back. Have a great trip!!! Cheers from Cisco.

Hello,

we were luky enough to be able to gon to France on may 2007.

we were driving in normandy, near Caen and suddendly we saw a kind of marian, full of mast, but all were landsailers, for us it was a dream!! we stopped and went inside, it was the Hermanville landsailing club, heade by Monsieur Rene Mann, who also is the president of the Promo Class Association. they were very helpfull and nice to us.

Ren? Mann
HERMANVILLE SUR MER
e-mail : r.mann1@libertysurf.fr

The guy with the green swater is Rene Mann. the one at the left is my friend Calixto from Chile and the tall guy is Danilo From argentina.

I wish we could have a yard like this here in Chile!!

The invited us to go landsailing on the beach, it was a cold and rainy day, the took us to Asnelle, another place some 20 km north of Hermanville, on Omaha beach.

The sand was very bumpy and real wet!! a whole new experience to us, as we are use to sail on dry lakes, very soft, this was really wet, salt waterand sand on my eyes and into my neck .

The whole Normandy peninsula on the english channel are full of landsailing clubs.
In the west coast we went to Bretteville sur Ay. and the club "les Manchots" they have landsailers, and at least to us, they didnt charge for use them.
You could contact, Philippe Cabannes from St. germain, he was our host in the european promo cup. philippecabannes@wanadoo.fr he is a very nice person I am sure he will helpyou.

Hello,

While you were sleeping, I was working in this side of the world.
(actually working at the office, but I managed to have some spare time to build this map!!)

This are the main spots and club locations in the north part of France.

Also, the French federation launched today their new web site, very organized with all the address of the clubs.

Ditto on that. Juan you are a Champion and too Google Earth savvy for words.

I noticed you marked "Cherrieux" (World Cup 2012). Is not that the beach from which the legendary Cap'in Horatio Hornblower rescued the English spy during the war with Napoleon, or was it where he met the fair French maiden with whom he fell hopelessly in love with. Could be an historic place in 2012?? Cheers, Cisco.
