Well I admit it isn't a record breaker but it is a start and I finished up with 4.77gb of video files which I managed to make a short film which I can't upload into you tube. Ah Well!

The second pic' isn't as it seems I had had a fair bit of playing about with my Helmet Cam in place and as the tide grew higher I grew Tired and that is when the boom finally knocked the HC off and no one could have deliberately take that footage though I did manage a screen capture of the instant I left it behind.

plonking your tracks over the beach can be a great learning tool.
just going out and doing a few hrs of zombie runs up and down , concentrating on improving your responses and lines will make you a better sailor.
today i snuck off and got a few laps myself. only had the 2.4m up but managed a 76.8kph, just kept running out of lake.
the bits not sailed on are covered in sticks[}:)]

Brians Q first. Brian Don't go there. If not used correctly that can be dangerous (refer to Paul) I have fitted a Jam Cleat to the boom. It is easy to use but if you get into trouble and forget the rope is locked down---------------A over T is an Aussie expression (Base over Apex is another). It allows me to rest my hands and arms on a long straight run but none the less I have to be ready for gusts. The Razor has one saving Grace A CF Mast that catches the shock load offering me a little protection. Watch the footage and the sail . The answer is there for all to see.

More than likely but Ah! WTF I will sort it out sometime and as much as I would like to sail with a bunch of you guys it ain't likely to happen. The Cleat doesn't get a lot of use and I use it only on long runs, it is easy to unhook, Just a flick O' wrist.

It seems that you haven't triald the CF Masts in heavy gusts?? I find that they bend incredible and absorb the shock and feed it back at a lesser rate.. I could be wrong but that is as I see it --------------------------Ah! At the moment anyway. All things are possible in this dimension, even Einstein's Theory is in question now. It seems they reckon they have detected a Faster Than Light Particle

Yeah! I haven't the strength to go one on one with the sail. 3:1 is the best I can do and then when a Googly Gust hits things get interesting. There in lies the problem with Beach Sailing, you don't get strong steady winds of the land.
Unlike the Guys that o desert sailing, one can't get really settled with short runs and gusty conditions. It also gets interesting when you try to squeeze the maximum out of a run and a River or Rocks are fast coming up then the whole thing starts to loose traction in a Broadside slide. But I do get there in the end. Oh Yeah! I love the sailing through the Obstacle Course, Good Value.

changing to a batten that is flatter and stiffer to the rear will give you a more managable sail. what you have now is rathere full with long foot and short mast for a chassis that wide /long, start by changing those battens. you could even get some pieces of batten about 2/3 the length of each batten and tape them to the existing battens.
you will get a sail that isnt trying to flipp you all the time

Yesterday I cut down and fitted Tubular CF Battens from those 11mte Speed Sails I cut down. They should hold it flap. Hopefully they will also cut down on the sideways drag. The stronger the wind and the faster the Razor went the more side slip generated. The sail is the first one I cut down, it is good for lower winds the other one is good for Strong winds I also have another that is larger for use in lighter winds but may even cut it down for strong winds?? Remains to be seen.
I am in the throws of sorting out mast materials. It would seem that there is an availability of a 3mter and 4.mtr masts at $200 bucks if I wan them.. I may take them and sell them on.

both the 3 and 4m masts would probably be too small for what you want, maybe better off hanging on to the cash and see what happens. $200 is alot to spend on a home made yacht. i dont have that kinda luxury

Mast deflection (What is Dumber n a Bucket of Hammers?? see below)
That is No 1 Mast; 4.325mtr = 117mm deflection
No 2 Mast; 4.435mtr = 235mm deflection
What are your thoughts??
$100 apiece for a Mast seems pretty good to me as what else can be used for masts these days? no one imports or makes the tubing needed.

How close to 30 kg is that bucket of hammers?
If it's 30 kg then the top mast has an IMCS of 32.7 (extremely stiff)
And the bottom mast has an IMCS of 17.5 (a bit flexy compared to normal)
The reference stiffness for that size mast is around 21.

That bucket weighs as near as Damn is to swearing.. I weighed out what ever I could lay my hands on on the bathroom scales then weighed myself with and without the bucket.. 30Kgs. The softer mast does ok on the Cat but I have my doubts for the Stiff mast on the Razor.

You might have to ask the opposition, as we have not lost any fish lately :-)
I've got a full, intact 370cm carbon mast that I might sell for $100 if you were interested. It's a spare for my smallest sail, but I have 400cm mast that sail can rig on, so I sort of have two back-ups. It's only 40% carbon though which actually makes it a bit less brittle. It's a Fibrespar Tidal Wave QT - you can do a search - I've got the 370, 400 and 430cm. I'd probably actually sell them all if you were interested as they are all back up to my 100% carbon masts. The 400 and 430 are more useful, so less need to sell. Would do all three for $400!!
Funnily enough, as far as masts go the Tidal Wave's are pretty much the toughest. They are for wavesailing (ie built for the surf), compared with the 100% carbon mast that are for racing (light and definitely not for in the surf). Being only 40% carbon they are heavier (maybe 2.2 kg instead of 1.8 - or something like that, I'd have to check). They also only go up to 430 cm, unlike the raving masts that go up to 550 cm.
Other than the new Redecuded Diameter Masts (RDM's) that are available for wavesailing nowadays, the Fibrespars are super tough. They will fit the mast extension, unlike the RDM's that need a different, narrower extension. They also design the sails with narrower luff sleaves for the RDM's.
It's a real shame you have broken those other masts, as I thought for sure they would have been tough enough.
If you are interested in the Fibrespar masts I have, I'll guarantee them to the extent of paying you back half their cost if they break!!

i suspect the 40% mast would be a good buy , having seen what TP1 does to a 30% , youd have to be a freakin'psycho sailor to break one .

Gaastra Ignition 100% CF Mast Base.
The bloke is away on holidays for a week or three so when he gets back I will talk with him. Hopefully he will get onto a replacement Mast Base so I can use my Speed Sail again.
