Oh! It's so lonesome away from your kindred an' all morbid nor drear than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer. or words to that effect.

Situation saved the drains finally cleared it. 2 hrs of rain and we had a pond 150mm+ deep and 300m long. So good news is pub is accessible in a direct line again bad news is the dentist has been cut off Not seen that in 11 years here. This lot had better not hit Cherruiex or it'll scupper things for a day or two

Cheers Col

Geez... I'm off to iron another spare pair of jeans and pack my rain jacket.

I suppose you get to expect this, with any nature powered event.

But I feel for everyone involved, after the tremendous amount of effort that has been put into it at all levels. Damb!!!

Paul, have you looked for some big 26" tyres over there yet?
I somehow get the feeling it might be a good idea................

I chatted with a dutch pilot and 1 tyre came up recently on ebay and there was a bidding war
nothing avaailable here but the supermarket had a 20" bike with MAGNESIUM wheels for 160euro
minis look really hot, lots of hot flat Y frames from spain and germany,
french plumekart runs well despite tiny wheel but brilliant steering
yesterday tall ships race at ST Malo. 36 ships

Hi Paul,
It looks like it was pretty crazy out there & yacht design for conditions obvoiusly big factor.
Hope you get a better go in 5.
Good luck,
We're cheering you on here.

rained off, which is a pity as the clay doesnt stick to your tyres when its raining. running 3.8 fat larrys today instead of those skinny hookworms
A huge thanks to englishman Chris Wright , who had prepared a set of tyres ,but was unable to attend,he sold me tyres at cost, and they were all buffed and ready to go ,
thank you so much
other results
dont take a ferrari to a dune buggy race!!!!!!!!!
nappy rush with its 4.2m poly sail would have been the perfect choice for this beach, fast upwind and grosly overpowered downwind
add clemco steering and sit up nappy rush to the grandad position and youve just described the top designs on the beach. fit a 5.5 for medium winds and a 6.5 for the lighter stuff Clemcos batten diagram was spot on for beaches, forgrt your hookworms,as they are not too good at 15psi
only needed 10psi on the front and now have 10kg of sand at the back to keep it light up front. running a massive 6kg on the front when sailing that keeps the front wheel just touching the ground, except on the tacks ,which are achived by the front aileron/wheel with all the adjustments I actually finished a race today, on 2 wheels, possibly 2 laps behind, but recieved a compliment from one of the french pilots when I held back at a mark to give him a clean line.
re the beach.......;its s**t
but thats Europe, If I recall correctly
on another note , European kite buggiers ;make us landyachters look like a mob of babies.
the crap they sailed through was incredible
after 1 lap they were driving through a river, and they did it again and again

Thanks for the posts, they are most interesting It would seem

for landyachts the flat on the back position is least favoured.

and thats a yes vote from me ![}:)]

dont forget youll also need the 6.5m sail as welland relly tall rigs
our sails were just too small for the beach conditions, today in 25kph winds with the beach graded they are racing with 5.5M sails

fitted some blocks off my cl5 in 1986/87,and ran much smoother
