I'm trying to put togeather a land sailing regatta that will be open to anyone who uses the wind as a from of motive power eg land yachts of any class, blokarts and kite buggies, the time of this event i'm thinking will be around november, the place as yet to be sorted but i'm thinking either Pt Gawler beach here in Adelaide, Port Augusta out on the clay pans and lake gilles, which could be a combination of both. Time span of the "event" would be about 4 to 5 days depending on location, I hope to have details finished soon but am open to any suggestions and comments, I know novemebr is a long way off and a lot can happen in that time but I think that the time is right for us to come togeather as a sport and show the general public what land sailing is all about, so again any suggestions, the time I'm thinking of is around the first week in november ???
Good Tony the Blokarters are planning to hold an event out at Gillies 3/4th of November as well, but hey more the merrier Gillies is a big venue so they shouldnt get in each others way.
I spoke to the caravan park owner (Pt Gremaine)when I stayed there a few months ago and he said that he would reserve some camp site,s there with a little notice. I wandered around the bay when the tide was out and I recon it would make a great venue. Could get a little wet. Have a few pics somewhere I will dig them out and post them. (if I can find the stick that I have them on.
I noticed a couple of old land yachts rusting on a clay pan between Port Augusta and Adelaide any one have any idea about then, it looked like a great sailing site if the clay was dry
toughen up "girls" Pt Germain is in reality quite soft, dont can it if you have never
experienced it.walking onit flattens it out , it is not corrugated just slightly
ripppled. Like noisy white paint on a edge of a biteum road "Sissys"[}:)]
