I'm trying to put togeather a land sailing regatta that will be open to anyone who uses the wind as a from of motive power eg land yachts of any class, blokarts and kite buggies, the time of this event i'm thinking will be around november, the place as yet to be sorted but i'm thinking either Pt Gawler beach here in Adelaide, Port Augusta out on the clay pans and lake gilles, which could be a combination of both. Time span of the "event" would be about 4 to 5 days depending on location, I hope to have details finished soon but am open to any suggestions and comments, I know novemebr is a long way off and a lot can happen in that time but I think that the time is right for us to come togeather as a sport and show the general public what land sailing is all about, so again any suggestions, the time I'm thinking of is around the first week in november ???

I spoke to the caravan park owner (Pt Gremaine)when I stayed there a few months ago and he said that he would reserve some camp site,s there with a little notice. I wandered around the bay when the tide was out and I recon it would make a great venue. Could get a little wet. Have a few pics somewhere I will dig them out and post them. (if I can find the stick that I have them on.

I noticed a couple of old land yachts rusting on a clay pan between Port Augusta and Adelaide any one have any idea about then, it looked like a great sailing site if the clay was dry

that place where the old land yachts are is called locheile and is just north of Pt Wakefield, the area use to be used as a land sailing site many years ago i am told i think it's owned by Cheetham salt, they mine salt there but i'm not sure if they mine in that area where the old land yachts are i believe that they belong to the farmer tat lives acoss the other side of the road from wher you can see them, i believe that he owns the land along side of the lake..

if it was to be at Gilles it would have to be on te understanding that it was a "bring everything you need with you "deal as you well know, and those that didn't want to do that could either stay at Pt Augusta which is and hour and hlf drive away or at Kimba at the c'van park which is about 45 mins away, i think no matter where we choose to hold the first "event" it's not gunna suit everyone

as they Tony you can lead a horse to water but you cant make em drink it.Put the event on and people will come with the right encouragement.
