hiya, ive read landyachts and lots of other posts a hundred times and my head is a bit 'foggy. now lol,i want to go for the big cut but before i do i wanted to ask if this sail is ok and maybe if someone could mark the sail where wouldbe best to cut,i have an idea where i would cut it but what do i know hahaha!
sail info is, 4.5m , for mast 4.28m, mcs/imcs 21-23, boom 1.575m. i have a full carbon mast 4.6m 25/25. any guidance would be greatly apreciated,

lets try putting the reply here
being a surf sail ,its rather flat already , so I would trim only a small amount off the centre of the luff, say 50mm.. in an old thread I had a sketch and measurements to make a luff template that is a good allround curve. join the 2 pocket pieces to make 1 pocket. on the foot I would trim the front of the foot(tack) off and sew it to the back(clew to get just the right profile www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Land-Yacht-Sailing/Sail-making/How-I-recut-sailboard-sails-to-suit-landyachts/ have a look at the foot of both sails in this thread. Also the thread has those measurements. both of the sails were similoar sized surf sail. I you can collect some trashed sacrificial sails you can pillage them for bits as required

i saw this that u posted a while ago,is this roughly what u mean with the foot/clew etc,i understand the luff cut, just unsure where to chop my sail, would keeping the batton under where the existing hauldown eye is be to an advantage? obviously ill have a boom too.

more like this you will lose a bit of your length, which is fine as you are not using the full length of the windsurfer mast. when i add this pice i strip away some of the edging material to make it sewable, and make a seam of 3 x6mm zig zag runs over 30mm overlap. never had one fail yet. If its all monofilm you will need some kind of dacron strip top and bottom of the seam, like the material you cut off the luff
