The Burnett River has been at normal levels for 5 or 6 days now.

In true Aussie style most people are just getting on with it. Most people I speak with agree that we should expect these events more often and it is not because of global warming/climate change. It is part of a natural cycle.

A friend's beautiful Italian built 37 footer rescued with some rudder damage and a bit of gouging on the topsides.

It came from about a quarter of a mile upstream mated with the marina pontoon section, the house boat and the trawler below.

The houseboat sank, the trawler broke away and went down the street and the yacht and pontoon went either side of the tree.

The trawler ended up where the ute is and has been shifted off the road.

Some bastards around here would steal the steam off your sh!t so you have to let them know what is off limits.

In the foreground is all that is left of Midtown Marinas.

In the background to the left is the remains of Bundaberg Slipways.

Sadly it is uncertain whether either business will rebuild. If they don't the rogue that has Bundaberg Port Marina and ship yard will have the monopoly he has always wanted.

Thanks for the photos. Feel for the trawler operator, hope they did not just drag it off the road. Lovely yacht too.

We have just had a cold spell on the South coast of NSW, there was no hysteria from the media about climate change like we had a couple of weeks ago when it was a bit warm!

I believe it was craned. Many people has been providing their services or facilities gratis in aid of flood affected people. businesses and organisations.

My son and wife are rowers so I have been helping out at the rowing shed.

Not blowing my trumpet. It is just what you do as a member of your community.

I refused to take any photos during the flood as what was happening was just so heart breaking for so many people. The bottom feeders were out in force though clicking and whirring away anticipating getting a million hits on You Tube.

I have posted these photos here only, mainly because they reflect a couple of successful recoveries.

Good to hear all is working out for some Bundaberg residents at least. I feel for those who have lost so much.

I may be up that way in March, for a family re-union....

Hi Cisco

Excellent photo's though can not help but feel for all boat owners effected.

Must be a great place to live with all the community spirit except for the harsh weather conditions.

Hope all is going well with you and pleased that you have weathered the storm and come through ok.

I think we need to organize for a boy's weekend or week, not sure how or when but am sure a few sailors would be keen to get together somewhere around the East Coast, and talk ****, tell lies, drink coppices amounts of alcohol and brag about there sailing abilities.
Give me your thoughts and maybe this could become a yearly event...?

What a mess !!! Well I do hope there are some more lucky escapes !!!!!

We who haven't experienced that, just have trouble knowing what it must be like .

Hang in crew.

Excellent idea Disraeli. Over on the Top Hat Forum, we do it about twice a year. Sometimes it's a bit impromptu, but works well. Usually get about 4 - 6 boats in Pittwater or Lake Macquarie. Have also jut arrived home from a beer with a few blokes from the Seabreeze longboard forum, planning a second surf weekend later in the year following a gret weekend at Pt Plomer last November.

Sorry for the hijack, perhaps a separate thread is in order.....

I'm driving up to bundy Sunday arvo/evening for 3 weeks......our company is an insurance preferred repairer and we have to honour our service standard agreements.

Next few months will be in Bundy, Rocky, Gladstone etc helping to clean up the mess.

Usually out on my own, just assessing and estimating, so be great to meet ANYONE for a beer, coffee or chat!

Cheers
Rick

WARNING:- The poster advises the following images may upset some viewers. I know they upset me.

The big round bilge Adams schooner could have and still could be saved. It is semi floating. It was for sale at $400,000 and rumor has it that the owner has basically walked away from it and is expecting a full insurance write off settlement.

Washed safely out to sea by the flood then blown onto the rocks by the wind.

Thanks for the photos, worked on trawlers in Bundy as a lad. That old sharpie trawler has Norman Wright written all over it. Didn't get a name did you?
My dear departed Grannies house in Barolin St would have went well under.Last time she said was 1942.
