Some yachts south of here have requested photos of the bar [today, Saturday 29th June 2013.]
This is taken where the "official" entry line crosses the bar!!
This is taken over the correct line of approach which is more from an easterly direction.
Be aware that there is sometimes an outer bar when waves are 3m plus, this is avoided by approaching more south of east. You will easily be able to see it as you approach if it is working.
A beautiful part of Oz. I stayed there last weekend after reading a blog about one of our members attempts to sail from there to Hobart. Here a few more photos I took near the bar entrance and of Pilot Beach just inside the breakwater.
Thanks Phillip,
What part of the tide were these taken? Looks good! See you tomorrow.Cheers,
Glenn
About three hours before the top of the tide [plus the over run].
Boatin, was that Seaka you were indicating towards Hobart?
I can't recall the name of the yacht, but it was about 25' similar to my Mystere 25. I think they got as far as Port Stephens or maybe Newcastle before they ran out of time due weather.
But I am very glad that I visited that area (never having been there before) because it is one of those places you can'r help saying "I think I could live here!"
Thanks again Phillip, came in today bar was perfectly behaved. We have picked up mooring from boatshed. Give us a yell and I shout you a beer or coffee.

Hi Phillip, Yes it was. Enjoyed the read and just love the country you live in.

John (Boatin)
