Ive been sailing up to Cairns for the last 5 years just to be in the trade winds and the warm winter weather then bravely running away south for the cyclone season around December.
Being a wind junkie i have a passion for hanggliding and yesterday had an awesome flight from our launch site north of Cairns to a paddock just south of the Daintree river. Reaching over 4000 ft on thermals up into the clouds above the town of Mosman and trying to take in the spectacular view of the rainforest and reef and of crocodiles below in the Mowbray river.
Not really a sailing post but i felt like sharing the stoke!
This is a small clip of flying in the area, Landing at four mile beach Port Douglas amongst the kitesurfers.
It's awesome, you have to share the rest that. How often you get lift like that.
By the way, what camera is that. Thanks for sharing...
Sorry hang, cool but you can keep it.
Being in cairns, I'd be worried about landing belly down into a croc whilst strapped into your coocoony thing.
We went to Cairns and PD a few years ago for the first time.
Did the Thursday social sail from PD yachtclub.
Yachtclub one side, mangrove the other. Crocs in between.
Some of the stories about crocs being in the dingy and on the dingy ramp after a sail were an eye opener.
Nice backpackers though.
