Yesterday motored up and into South West Arm, Port Hacking. The first time in 30 odd years. Lots of boats (mostly cruisers) but plenty of room to anchor. I think I can see plenty of lost time up there.
Lots of little jobs today, its finally finished, one roller to replace in the morning and off to Silverwater ramp late afternoon. Does anybody know if Silverwater ramps the best place to launch ?, I've got to dunk the trailer to floater her off.
Fixed the sailing compass sun shades cleaned the boat and went to work for a 10 day shift. Need to get a new main as I ripped it on last weeks sailing adventure to the islands spent too much money on repairs as the sail is over 15 years old I was thinking of buying a Hyde sail from Brisbane.
Installed new sound system, re wired and replaced nav lights with led type , new led cabin light. Finally got round to installing fuse box for aft cabin power and lights . Watched lots of boats come and go while I was having a cuppa and wondering what the PO was thinking when the original wiring was done . Now it's my turn to go sailing moving the boat from port stephens to sydney for a few months in February

mid week, new moon, unbelievable, the stars, the luminescence you wouldn't think your in Sydney
Installed new deck hatch (Gebo replacement for the dreaded Houdini).
Removed, cleaned and rebedded 2 of 6 leaky chain plates.
Bilge coted the anchor locker.
A good day. Except for the 750 powerboat fishermen launching all night.
Finished slipping over last 2 days. Had to fit new saildrive flange to bottom of boat, used Sousal Fix All, very tacky and great for the job.
Fitted four lovely cleats I found in the salvage yard down in Sydney, came of a fire gutted motor boat.
Every time I think of dropping my price on my Valkyrie I just do another job :)).....
Finally got the head door off dam sikaflex!

Yes, I was looking at that one last night. The engine does seem a tad large and intrusive. It definitely needs a paint job. No way I would be sailing around on a lime green yacht.

The other two Santana 30s for sale have their masts further forward which raises the question "Who is so arrogant to think they could improve on a Doug Peterson design?"

Running back stay are okay, they just need good crew training! I have them on my Farr 740, at first I have to admit was a bit of a handfull and had to resign to 3 crew for racing (4 if possible). But can still do cruising with 2 on board.
Wind over 35 knots gust to 40 unfurled the genoa and dropped it to the deck. A bit of a storm is brewing in Mackay Marina.

Nice boat ^^^ japie, Tom Thumb! Is a name that comes to mind. Good hull shape of what I can see and being steel you will sleep well around those reefs. I'd think of a longer bow sprit for a MPS with a sock for those light airs days. How about an inside picture?

The rudder is very deep and can get a lot more air before rounding, we were racing and was nice but with gusts to 27 knt, I can keep her healing to the point the water is close to the window and then she will start rounding. Should have had a number 2 jib, but we were 5 on board, we came 2nd!

What exactly does she need healing from?? Is it dry rot, scurvy, mutinous crew.......??
I find that when I am sailing with company and the yacht starts heeling a bit too much for general comfort and the crew feels they need some healing balm, if I go to the Lika Loka, pull out the bottle of rum, toss the cork over the side and announce that the yacht will not go near shore until the contents of the bottle are equally shared swig by swig by all present till it is empty, and within half an hour all maladies are healed and all of the company is having a jolly old time.
Ehehehe! Cisco trust me when the heeling start the healing is already full on. The rule is: uncork only after passing the first mark! The start line does not count! Do I need to mention that she has been renamed (after due process involving lot of booze) Farr.Mented!

These are drying out after my attempt of keeping busy while I wait for my car to come back from the workshop with a new clutch 'it's been two weeks' and I'm going nuts for iv found a shop to rent and move off the boat and on to the land for the first time in 8 years.
Valkyrie has never looked so good and during a moment of weakness this morning I thought of dropping my price and So I quickly looked for a job to do. Well there were a couple of spots to touch up on the hull, so as there was no wind I thought 2mins with the sander and I could touch it up with some spare two PAC. I'm in the dingy moving to fast and trying to secure the lead from falling in the water when I heard the genny cough a little! WTF oh sh-t quick hold the join out of the water idiot...trying to turn genny off, oh fu-king don't put the other join in the water...ahhhh its smoking, oh was that a tingle in my feet? WTF do I do now?
Oh God please help this stupid heathen in his wet dingy who is about to die....

Did you receive an electric shock? If you think you did you should go get a check up. An electric shock from 240V can cause your heart to go into fibrillation and their have been known cases of death days after the electric shock occurred. Sorry for sounding all serious, I work in the electrical industry and have seen the worst that can happen.
