What did you do to your sailing boat today ?

Painting with cold gal and removal of rust in bilge, getting ready for install of the toilet new piping valves and bits tomorrow.

This is for badinfluence but would be equally useful for outboards on inflatables. The photo is of my 3.5 Tohatsu and sits in between the two hulls of the cat. Its right where the bow wave from each hull meets and this causes lots of cavitation. You will notice I have added a larger cav plate to the normal cav plate in Stainless steel, this alone makes a massive difference. The korts nozzle is just glass cloth over plastic, there is a strip of carbon there too but that's just for show! The korts nozzle gives lots more thrust.
One of these would also give some improvement in reducing cavitation.

That TCM toilet is now in and plumbed ran the new electrical cable, worked on the new LED stove light and more jobs to come I am on holidays till the end of September i am sure I will find a few more projects to do

Gosh, that's nice looking timber DrRog ... but the weight ... the weight. I remember turning some on my lathe and thinking how nicely it works and how well a finish it takes.

thanks so much for the image....it helps me get my head around what to do. Pretty sure I will go this way and not with the hydrofoil...been doing a bit of reading and the dynamics seem to make more sense with the Kort's than the foil. Talked to the Propguard people yesterday...very helpful. Was hoping to see my engineer mate yesterday to further discuss it, but wasn't to be.

Whilist retrieving the lost main halyard from the mast head last week...I discovered I had used the same rope to tie the ladder legs off for safety. What a dumb ass. So today I totally let my milky nice lovely runny toplac go a bit too creamy in the heat and buggered up a paint job. I can sand it cause it's a first coat...lesson learnt. I am missing a few stanchion bases that I put "in a spot so I could find them later on easily"....now they are gone forever....and they are circa 1970 and not made anymore.....grrrrr... I have sanded a bit too much off my new laid up polyester deck in some parts " to get it nice n flat" ?.....and its back to "wobbly"...grrrr!!!.......ive left gaping holes open all night after new deck core has gone in.......and a two oclock in the morning thunderstorm has rolled through ( screw you god!!!)......could go on for a few more paragraphs. It's a learning curve I guess. ( please stop drinking rum the night before boat work David) So yep boating...I know your pain mate. Most annoying hey?

Yes, I remember this image from the before and after series, transforming a dark and dingy hole below decks to something bright and cheerful.

Interesting and inormative forum. Always very supportive in the exchange of ideas of experienced sailors.

Spent all day working on the Yanmar 8. Put a helicoil in the fuel filter as the fitting was leaking. Later found the fuel line from the filter to the injector had worn badly where it passed under the motor and where the bracket held it. Today will get a new hose made and hope that this fixes the air in the system.

Another frustrating day on the Yanmar 8 ! Installed the new fuel hose, bled everything and still couldn't get it to run. Sometimes it would run for 5-10 seconds and then die.

If it was something I said your holiness, I wholeheartedly apologise and will try to behave in the future !

Good day today, I rode my motorbike for the first time since March to the boat I have not been able to get to since Feb. OMG shes still happy but the growth is Disgusting so much so I rowed up to her stern and whent to get on and my dink had that distinct hiss oh s&*^ yep I punctured it the shell fish are like knives, so jump on board pull everything up she looks ok considering she has been alone for over 6 months.
Go inside and my solar panels have done their job, oil ect looks good give the Bukh a wipe with a clean rag to check under the lanox and the impella screw head falls off in the rag, pull in all apart and the thread comes out easy, use a stainless touch the starter Fires strait up.
Now I don't (did not but now will) keep patches for my dink on the boat 150mt from shore and a good breeze and all I can find is Ducktape blow it up as best I can and row like stink fist 20mt its ok then the oar locks start moving more than the oar tips so I start aiming for a rock wall thats exposed at low tide, wind and not wanting to get drenched gets me the 80 mt to it the all I had to do walk 50mt on the slippery rocks to shore pack up and ride home. Good Day, but I will never NOT carry a patch for the dink again.
