Hello,

Anyone tried this board? I'm struggling to find reviews. Would also like to compare with the 2011 model. The 2012 has slightly less volume and looks a bit more performance orientated.

Cheers
Z

Hi Zola.

I've been riding this board for a bit now and really like it. Before I got it I was using a 2011. Although I didnt get to ride them back to back they both seemed quite different. I do remember feeling relaxed on it considering I went from a 9'8 x 29.

The current 8'5 took me a few goes to get my balance on it. Now I find it very stable. I'm 70kgs and 178cm tall. The board is definately an easy paddler with excellent glide. By moving the fin you can really adjust the way the board feels from knee high waves to a couple of times over head.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more information.

Hi Zola I have a 2011 in carbon and it is a very good board. I have tried the 2012 as a demo and it was a little different. I talked to Scotty mckercher and he told me that the 2012 is a better board whatever that means. The current board is quite stable for me now and it does everything well. I have tried afew fin set ups and am now using it as a quad with a small centre fin and it is super locked in.

I think they are a good product but for the next step have a custom Laguna Bay 8'4" by 27 coming. I don't plan to get rid of thie starboard and will take it north in a month for some real grunt.

Have an 8'3 x 27 laguna bay , and have been for over a year buying his models , hard to fault those great shapes Tully gets out. Haven't ridden a Chinese board that comes close to that feel under feet , not to say there not out there. Ride mine with glass twins and a standard Kelly glass rear fin , had it on some good sized faces in Bali , it was loving it . Go the custom.
