Haven't tried the Ray but had a look at it in WindSurfnSnow during the week. Looks perfect for what you are after. It looks like a scaled down race board. The shorter , wider outline will make it stable but it looks like it would have a bit of speed and glide. Being a bit smaller it will be easy to handle. I think they come in 2 sizes -11 foot and 12 foot. They come with Fanatics new ONE race fin which is a real bonus .
I'm considering getting one also as a family cruiser and a board that the kids can use instead of the carbon race boards. They'll cover alot more ground the rounder, general recreation SUPs I have been looking at.

Hi Ron,

I've paddled the Ray's and reckon they're great for touring and playing. Their width and boxy rails make them incredibly stable and easy to paddle. They move along at a fair old clip but won't hold onto a Falcon if racing, but they are faster than your average board. They paddle downwind well and will happily surf runners. I didn't try them in the surf, but think they'd be fine for small crumbly waves.

The deck inserts make them perfect for strapping stuff down to the deck like the SUP Fisher or just running bungee's to hold down snorkelling gear and such.

I really like the Ray, it's fun, easy, and perfect for all condition touring and looks the goods in bright green. It also comes with the "ONE" race fin which is amazing.

One of the best value for money boards in it's class. I sold one to a lady paddler and she absolutely loves it for fitness and cruising.

Hi,thanks for the comments,I've looked at a few boards "the wing"by bic and coreban but after reading the comments from you guys and some American reviews,I'm sure it will do exactly the paddling I'm after. Thanks for taking time to reply

Finally got to try out the 12' Ray,

Took it out on the ocean today, super light wind and smooth water. The board is very stable and tracks really well in a straight line. Feels quite fast considering the width and volume.

Paddled for an hour then took it into the waves, was a bit concerned whether the width would be a problem. Waves were pretty small and very fat.

Gets onto the wave/swell with a couple of strokes and is very quick on the wave, the board turns surprisingly well for a big board. Had another hour catching a heap of little waves, the board is very manoeuvrable once getting a bit of speed on the wave.

Going to have to try a downwinder next, looking forward to it.

Cheers J

Hi Jaime,

We've sold a couple now to ladies wanting an allrounder for fun in all conditions. So far, they are VERY happy with them. They are a surprisingly good board as they look big and unwieldy but to the contrary, they are easy to paddle and great fun.

We sold the 11ft to a tall lady and a 12ft to a lady who's interested in losing some weight and has a back injury she is trying to strengthen. The stability allows her to focus on her technique and posture without the concern of an awkward fall which may do damage.

They both also love the green in amongst a sea of Red Fanatic Falcons

Hi Jaime,

Did you ever try it in downwinder situation? Thoughts?
