Sorry Guys, very different dimensions , Kwads are narrower and therefore less literage. Not much detail on the web site either.

Well, third session is done and dusted. What a contrast to the last.
Solid 6' plus sets, blowing hard across wind. double and triple ups.
Paddling 10 to 1 just to stay on track!
Took a while to figure the waves and get a read on the action. Pull into the lip and only one thought hots. Trust the board, take the drop and put it on the rail.
Wow, just sublime. Takes off, turns, reverse to get back to the pocket, out again. Down the face, up the wave into the wind protected area, couple of strokes and off again.
Just a super board. Fast enough to get in front of the section, controlled enough to turn, take offs and down the line.
Just a super board in all sorts of conditions.

I have finally identified a fault with the board.

The riders lack of ability!

Long hard paddle back out but 500m plus rides are a treat with time to think and work the water.

Super, Super board. Very happy.

Definitely a Keeper!!

Awwww.. now your gettin' me all excited.... my 8'8 is coming in a week or two.
Sure wish I had it last week.... waves EVERY day. 3' to 6' feet and clean. 15 hours in surf since Thursday....4 hours this morning...my hands are so tired I can't type... gotta rest... more coming all week.

It is perfect for the 8'8 JP Wide.... well actually... it is perfect for everything

Thanks for your posts on this board... it's keeping me fired up!

Awww hell... I'm adding a picture of some of the surf my JP missed... you will see why I'm chaffing to get my hands (feet) on it.

Hey Rick are you hidng under the Lip again??? And Momma aren't you in Victoria at the moment???? Check out C-------l Rock tomorrow after the Low tide. It's been not like that for the past five days. It's no secret but go west young man. (I take no resposibility for going out there on a SUP though)Thanks again Rick for you help with the 'Zone'. They finally accepted me as a member thanks in large part to your advice and I have dropped 3 ks on the Primal Diet. I'm eating way to much rib steak and too many prawns (shrimp) though. Mahalo and peace bros.

Follow the link to a classic day a couple of years ago.

Hey Leroy,
Yes in Vic, on the East side of the Yarra. Where is Cathedral Rock? West Coast?

Sweet Vid.

Yeah Momma, it's about 3 ks this side of Lorne. It needs at least 4 ft of swell to work and 6 ft to begin to work properly on low tide. There's a couple of good points after Lorne if the swell's big enough. Well worth an explore in the coming months.

Nother session done and dusted.
Talk about confusion!
Wind SE, Swell SW, Tide running out hard straight into the face. Double. tripple, quad up waves. Cross chop and anything else you can throw in to a 3-5 foot swell hiting a sand bank. Call me Tetley! Tea bag from getting dunked that is.

Yes I went in a few times more than usual. But stuck with it and you go out in the **** sessions to appreciate the good times more. As usual, on the wave , great performance. Cut backs are now comming easily and working on the surfing not the standing more and more. Still a good stick I am happy with! Would not give it back.

Am down to approx $24 a wave now. Still way cheaper than a ski ticket and dropping!

Since you have ridden both; how does the 8'2 compare to the 8'8? for getting in early, gettting through sections

Howdy SUPORSURF.

Both boards are loose and ride beautifully on waves. The 8 2 did surprise me in the way it stayed with waves as they fattened up.

I went the 8 8 as I am looking at a slightly more all round board and something to help me improve to the next level. That is what I am getting out of it.

The 8 2 would be more performance suited and better for a more experienced surfer. Or be a board someone like me can have in the cupboard for the ideal clean glass 4-6 conditions.

Sadly for me I take what Nature dishes up when I hit the beach, so I have to have a board that will do that with me. Hence 8 8

Hi JP WB surf owners,
Would love to see some video footage of you on a few waves if possible?
Cheers,
Ken.

Hi

I demo'd the 8'8" in very poor 1-2 ft waves which I was happy to do. I generally ride the SUP board when the conditions are usually worse than good and if it is good I ride my short boards.

I found the surf wide to be a really fun board, as you said it is easy to catch waves and rides like a surfboard. I was worried the nose may catch as the waves get larger and steeper but from your reviews it doesnt seem to be a problem. I would be interested to hear your opinion on how it paddles?

I found after 3 or 4 strokes it tends to get to a certain speed and then bogs down a bit (it seemed to be 'pushing a lot of water') This may have been because of my weight distribution being wrong (only had a short demo.) The irony to that was, it paddled into the waves with hardly any effort (not a lot of speed) and once on the wave it accelerated nicely.
I was wondering if you experienced the same?

I am interested in downsizing and this board is on my short list along with the JP 9'2" Surf, although I havent been able to demo the surf model.

I have now had a few sessions an d continue to work with the board, learning from it all the time. SO far I have not lucked a decent day of clean and light winds.
But, paddling wise I have not fund any difficulties. 83 kg on the 8 8 . Acceleration for the wave is good and even pulled a few 1 paddle take offs. I tend to get 6-8 strokes before changing sides.

Once on the wave it comes alive and is easy to move around. I have to catch up to the board and will learn lots from it.

I went the 8 8 to get more all around than the 8 2, and generally have fun till I get my skill up to handle narrower boards. It will definitely give me that.

As conditions have been crappy down here, no video yet that is worth posting.

Had my 8'2" for a few months now and couldn't be happier! Here's a quick clip I shot while trying out a paddle mount at the Alley last Thursday (waves 1-2ft max, incoming tide).

Whats the nose rocker like, I am updating soon from a Starboard 9 ft 5" WP to something slightly small but wanted quite a bit more nose rocker, not overall as that would effect glide just more in the first 12 " of the nose to stop burying the nose on steep take off's

any thoughts
