Got my new board. After one paddle really happy with the choice.
Criteria was a better wave board than my Naish 11 6 not a hard task really with so many good boards out there.
Tried a few, picked the JL 10 8 as I think it is the best wave riding SUP, or is that be SUB, out there at the moment for generous lads and lasses (I am 110kg). I intend to use this in some good 6ft + surf.
Finish is first class feels really stiff and solid but light.
The first surf was rather small but a good test none the less knee high with backwash and a little chop. Really the hardest test for me on this board. Stability was a challenge to start with as I had not been out for a while but I quickly got the hang of it so not worried there. Glide was appreciably worse than the Naish no surprise there, paddles to outer reefs will not be as easy.
That leaves waveriding, even on tiny waves I could accelerate and change direction with ease it is a quantum leap from the Naish. I did some great little reos and cutbacks in very marginal conditions rapt with it, looking forward to some decent waves now.
Thanks to Courts from supsurfaustralia.com/SUP%20Stand%20Up%20Paddle%20Boards/Home.html who showed me what was possible on a SUP with his riding up north. If in MR hit him up for a demo you will be impressed.
I got mine from Jason at http://www.westozkiteboarding.com.au/sup.html he has demos in Rockingham. PM me if you want a paddle in Perth or Lancelin.

Don't mind if I post a few pic's hey!! We'll have to catch up for a few waves Hilly, getting out for a paddle in the morning. Way different to what I've riden in the past so need to get some hours on the water.

These two pic's below are of Jas and his board from West Oz Kiteboarding

Ok, I haven't cut my paddle yet. What is the best way to get it right, do you stick your stretched out hand on your head for the length, as that's all I've heard from 2 sources or is there a better way??

IMO...This is the best way to go...It may feel a little long at first but give it some time.

You can always just paddle deeper if it's a bit long...That's better than having to bend over to paddle if it's a bit short.

be interesting to see how the boards go, without or with smaller thrusters... might open the board up a bit for glide factor on the smaller days.

Good paddle this arvo small sucky waves the 10 8 was superb really quick to turn held a tight line close to the pocket and fast when needed

Very happy camper. Look forward to a bigger day.

Just need to sort the paddle a little short - lower back pain - and I will be stylin.

Cheers Andrew
