Less float similar glide. Sorta between the 9 9 and the 9 4. Catches waves very easily.

More drive out of a bottom turn, much better snaps off the top.

less nose rocker so not as good going straight down the wave in steep waves but the benefits out weight negatives. Feels great to pump along the wave then snap under the lip.

had a demo on the 8'7" yesterday, nice clean 2-3ft waves so no excuses. At 6'4" and 95kg i still wanted a sub 9' board and this looked the goods. first impressions paddling out, no problems at all, looked small underfoot but stable enough, just.....
first wave and could not believe the acceleration out of each turn. not into the tail sliding thing so super stoked when board on rail built speed through a cutback and off the foam! woohoo, like a stoked grom. had a 2 1/2 hour surf and.....
i ordered a white one

Demo -ed 9'1 more ztable than my 9'6 PZH and loozer. No brainer zhorter board better paddler and loozer......ordered a white one too.
PZ. Indo trip in March with new board couldn't be happier (or poorer)!

Hi,

My kwad 8'7 arrived just in time for the holiday.
For a intermediate 6'1 185lbs (add wetsuit, paddle, winter booties, sometimes helmet...), the float-ability is on the edge.

First impression in the water: Small and missing volume (I was used to 130lts, now 110lts). "I've made a mistake." It was a choppy tough day.
As I got myself familiar with the toy, I came to find it friendly. (Someone more heavy, in my point of view might consider the 9'1).

It was my first time in a quad set:
- when you row, it goes quite straight ahead and fast for it's size.
- It's looose down the line, very fast.
- You can glue to the wave wall.
- When you're waiting, facing a wave, and want to turn to catch the next one, it's a little more stuck.
- Since the volume is not that big, you go for a late drop, but due to the it's speed and nice rocker, you don't pearl.

I'm still unveiling it's features but in short I'd say: Uauuuu!

Happy new year to ALL :)

Some weeks later...

I've had the chance to ride the q4d a few more times, and I'm feeling quite confortable on it's 8'7".
The volume that I missed in the begining turns into advantage when it's windy, since less area of the board is exposed (more area under water).
I've tried it in some different conditions, but where It think it makes a difference is on-shore fast break waves (I'm not sure I'm making myself clear, since english is not my first language :S).
The board gains speed in a dime and allow me into some sections I'd otherwise be late. The nose rocker is perfect.

Enjoy the sea!

Can someone tell me if the Kwad (I'm interested in the 9'1) can be ridden from the middle of the board without bogging down, or do you have to surf if off your back foot all the time ?

Just took the 9'1 for a spin got it for the weekend to demo.
Comming off a 9'5 mana so am looking for something a bit lighter, shorter and looser without losesin the whole SUP feel.
Sorta got it narrowed down to the 9'0 Mana or the JL 9'1.
JL definitly impressed in crap onshore conditions paddled great very stable and so light at just under 10kgs on my scales.
Hopefully get a bit better conditions tommorrow for another crack.

Just letting everyone know that the JL Kwads go pretty good with only 3 fins. On a recent trip to Indo I lost one of my rear fins. I surfed whole trip with only 3 fins. The set up favoured my goofy stance and my backhand was a bit spinny at times but no major problems just not as much down the line drive! Found out that Future fins have a slightly different setup for their rear fins than for the front fins. A friend lent my a spare Future fin but it didn't fit. Anyway it still went really well. I'm 95kg and have the 9'1 and it ripped dropped into the bigger waves fine, very happy with it. In the excellent waves of Indo I reckon I could of ridden the 8'7 but not worried because the 9'1 will suit the waves and conditions I have at home. More photos and words in general forum. Ombok, Banyak Bagus !

Hello guys,
had a nice session at Serangan this morning with well overhead waves and the Kwad 8'7 was unbelievable... Jimmy you are worst then the Devil, now I have to get one for myself!!!! Board can handle sucky waves and is so loose.. Kind of the maneuverability of the Striker with the Speed of the Mano...
Same volume then my Mano 9'0 but is a bit more stable due to extra width.
I really like it and I'm adding one to my quiver!
Will try in smallish waves later and see how it goes..
Bye Jankie
