Hello , im after some expert advice,
been on a Mana 9,5 for about a year , and mainly use it in small waves ,usually about 3 ft and under.
Been wanting to get something smaller , easier to throw around and easier to carry , but still quite stable,( im not sure if this exsists) thinking Fanatic allwave or one of the Short starboard boards , like a rush 7'4"-Volume:121 L
would this be an impossible step after riding the 190 litres on the mana which makes it like a boat to stand on?
im an very average surfer ,weigh about 83 kgs,
any advice appreciated .
Thanks.
the mana does have a lot of volume for something of that size, it would not be impossible to step down to a smaller board after this, it would just be hard work, but the performance difference would be very noticable, i haven't tried one of the allwave boards but i've heard good things, and apparently they are super stable as well, just demo as many boards as you can until you find something you like

The PSH 9-2 wide Ripper is worth a try a performance based board with very good stability and no worries for your weight , it's the best seller for Paddle Surf Hawaii.

Here is one 2nd hand in the for sale section in NSW at Balmoral Paddle Surf.

The 8'10" All wave would be more than enough and maintain good glide. If Stability is not a problem then Piros is spot on with the PSH 9'2". I am around 100 kg and have been surfing the 10'2" Hull Paddler. As far as I can work out the main difference between the Hull Rippers and the Paddlers is width, the fin set up which is more based on variety and the tails are different as well. They are a real performance board. When I look at them together there really is bugger all difference in the hull set up. I swear on the weekend, I had a session in 2 ft waves where I was hitting the lip at will. The Hull Ripper must be amazing for good surfers as even my barge I can get vertical really quickly. As soon as it gets over 3 ft the width makes it very skatey. I'm told that is not the case with the Hull Rippers. Another option is a Starboard Widepoint. I think there is an 8'2" model (at your weight the 8'10" would probably be too corky). My mate is really dialling his Starboard 8"5" Pocket Rocket in and he is around 90-95 kg, so that should be plenty big for you. As they say in the classics demo, demo, demo. and have fun!!!
