Surfing well Lummers.

Just an observation though, this board looks fun to ride but IMHO looks like it's pulling you up short through turns. The waves are terrible though so hard to judge.

It could be fin size, are you using very small fins for the day?

No offense intended and you kick my butt everyday but just a question, the short SUP debate is raging strong as you would know.

I thought it looked loose but quite drivey through the tight arc little turns.

The slide turn looked like it was done on purpose. Looks like it goes great on the backhand as well, which can be a struggle to do well on a SUP I reckon.

What's the short SUP debate again?

i have been running a fairly small set up in the board, In the Fat, its easy to slide the tail as there really isnt any wave to carve on. When it get's punchier i find its better on the rail to draw out the turns.. Im hanging for some sucky waves, Fat waves at home are just so slow at the moment.

Matt

I'm surfing a DC 8'10, 28 3/4, 4 1/4. Great board very forgiving. Plenty of performance and still good in the chop. And I'm 6' tall 85kg

I'm looking at one of three shorter boards. the psh 8'6, which I feel is too much the same as my DC. Naish 8'4, or the psh 8'0. Probably too much of a step down in size

hey Gondala, I wouldnt know how the PSH will compare. Im currently 88kg and 6'0, The only time i have struggled is when its howling 25 knots on shore. I love it, im hanging to get it in punch waves. The best part is that this is my first short board style sup as i love long board sups. SO cant wait for Nossa...

"Loose as a goose", it looks unreal, very quick and responsive and maintains speed.... .good luck at Noosa, lets hope the judges appreciate the shortbpoard SUP skilll and judge you, Casso, Dogman and Goaty accordingly - all ripping on short board SUP's.

PS. I have one on order. !!!!

Nice one lummers,

The board is awesome isn't it! it just feels so alive under your feet. I got some nice waves last weekend that had some wall on them, and the power that you can hit the sections is amazing.

As said earlier, what fins are you running? I've been running the MR-TX glass flex thrusters and an M-5 trailer = more drive and even looser.

Awesome work buddy,

JB

got to have a look at the 8'4 while i was in sydney for a short trip

thanks sam

but didnt have time to steal it off him and take it for a spin/sink

i might need a snorkle and googles just for the job

looks great

the pulled in square tail is sick very nice indeed

overall finish is nice the rails look a little chunky through the mid section to carry a few extra pies

and the rear fin box has a small entery slot that allows the fin to be adjusted all the way forward and all the way back(better than my 9'3 naish box)

it feels a bit heavy but solid to take a beating

thumbs up allround

Dogman,

You and both think of the same things! The fin box was one of the first things I noticed too. Us more generously preportioned gentlemen tend to like have the fin positioned way back.

What does the Dog weigh in at these days (5 pies down)? I've been hovering around 93-94 kg and find I'm fine on the board in most conditions. I had a session the other day that had cross chop from both sides, back wash and had been blowing on shore all night, so the conditions were challenging. No falling for the first hour and a half, but found as I got tired, my balance did also. NOthing major, but the odd kook dive every 3 or waves.

You gotta ride this board man!

Just watched the vids of surfing the naish 804 x 27 1/2 x 4 3/8 followed by Nalu 9 x 26 x 4 in similar waves.
Which would be more fun?
I have been like most it seems chasing the “short board feel” and on a JL Mano 9-0 now and whilst really enjoying the SUP thing, as some else said on the forum recently there still very big boards and really feel like mini mals then anything like the “put the board anywhere” feel you get on a performance short board.
Does the long board shape of the Nalu type boards cope with the volume needs to SUP better then the blown up short board shapes?
At 75 kg I don’t know whether to go shorter again and put up with the increased instability or give up and chance a more authentic, and then maybe satisfying, performance long board feel?
Any advice from those who have surfer similar boards appreciated.
