Almost beyond belief!!!! How come those guys don't wear helmets anymore????? Looking at some of those wipeouts it looks as those they are going to be slammed head first into the reef

I have to agree...
Although I would replace the word surfing with WAVES.

It's unbelievable that some of those lips are like compact bodies of water until they land on the bottom of the wave. Without any spray on it!

This brings a different meaning to thick waves.

Kelly Slater had the following to say about what he saw that day :

“Witnessing this was a draining feeling being terrified for other people's lives all day long, it's life or death. Letting go of that rope one time can change your life and not many people will ever experience that in their life.”

I wouldn't be thinking anything as my heart would have stopped and I would have been dead before it reached me. Did anyone actually make the ride? Because that's not a wave that's a monster? I would love to hear interviews with the guys that went over the falls, are they out of hospital yet if they survived? Brilliant to watch Hilly!! Absolutely excruciating to think of the consequences!!!!

I wonder what this guy is thinking?

Tow guys talk of the RED ZONE which is where the lip hits the water. You stay away from the RED ZONE. All the wipe outs in the vid the riders stayed well away from it by pulling in, lesson there for all surfers. It is better to pull in than straighten out. This wave if you get hit in the RED ZONE would remove a limb

It looks like she had her balls removed through the hole in her skull. Incredible courage on her part. Is there any footage of people making out of those monsters?? It seemed that they lost heaps of speed because there was so much water getting sucked back over the reef. If that was the case then I can't see how anyone made it. At least two of the featured victims...errr I mean surfers were nice and low on the face so as not to get sucked over the falls, but to no avail. It made me think that in conditions like that, would a longer Tow in board have helped in maintaining forward momentum?

Heaps made it lots of vids about search Vimeo and utube. The vid I posted focused on the heaviness of the wave and wipeouts.
