Here is yet another rqeuest for assistance from you SUP guru's out there.
I am presently in the market for a board to replace my "old faithful' Southpoint 11'6". I am 57 yrs old, 85kg and relatively fit. Not an OFB.
I will be using the board for fitness paddling, ocean cruising and the odd light downwind paddle. I ocean paddle around Noosa, Noosa river and the coastal strip.
I will be buying second hand so am a bit limited but have reduced the list to two.
Fanatic Fly 12'6" x 30.5" and Amundson TR12'6".
At this time I am going with the TR12'6" as I think it suits my requirements better.
I know you guys say demo, demo, demo but sometiomes this is difficult so I have reverted to asking your opinion.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ET.

IMHO you'd be way better off with a 14' for what you want to do.

I'd check this report done by the Viccos.

Hey ET,

Have owned and paddled an Amundson TR for a while now and find it really good in a wide variety of conditions. Super stable and fairly quick in all conditions, but comes into its' own when the going gets rough. Probably has the highest top end speed of any board I've paddled in DW. She will get up and fly. You'll probably find the Fanatic is quicker in the flat stuff though. The TR is built V tough, and I've been super impressed with its' durability. Good luck.

Hey ET,

I'm 88kg's & the TR is no problem in either flat water or waves, the stability is un-matched & the scooped nose/rocker sweetens the ride with nose control/edging when you choose to hit the downwinders or some small wave ocean fun.
The yellow one on the attached pic is the TR which is AST construction, the red is the TRX which is slightly lighter with Carbon/Wood construction.

I can put you in touch with a retailer on either the Sunny Coast or Gold Coast who can get you sorted with a new 2012, or a 2011 colour way at a second hand price (but brand new) if you want to go down that path ?

Who said the SUP was dropping in and wasn't try to make it over the shoulder and out of the surfers way, only to get sucked over.

Whilst I haven't seen or used the Amundson, the white Fanatic is still a very fast stable board well built board and should suit you. Again the Amundson at 29.5" seems a good width, try as many as you can before buying.

Demo, Demo, Demo.

But if you can't I guess all the feed back you can get helps. The Fanatic FLY 12'6" is an amazingly high performing board that is easy and stable. Look at majority of the club race results and most places are on this board. I am 90-95kgs these days and find the board easily stable enough for me to paddle through windy chopping conditions with my dog on board. The boards bow design is superior for clean smooth entry and long glide. A very well designed board as you would expect from Fanatic. And it handles catching pretty sizey waves too with relative ease. I can't speak much for the Amundson but can guarantee quality with the Fanatic.

Good luck and enjoy.
