This Friday is looking good.
Our plan is to meet at Sandy at about 9am and leave St Kilda at 9.30 sharp.
DJ
Friday 25 January
Winds
Northerly 20 to 30 knots shifting south to southwesterly 20 to 30 knots during the late morning then gradually easing to 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon and evening.
Seas
0.5 to 1 metres increasing to 2 metres during the morning.
The forcast keeps changing..
We are now looking at a 7am meet at Sandy..
It's still looking good but the change is now due mid morning rather than late morning..
DJ
It's now looking like a 6am start.. and a dawn DW'er.
Funny feeling the change is going to sneak in early.

BoM's showing 25-30 N at 5 and 8, 25-30SW by 11. Timing will be everything
Unfortunately adult life is in the way tomorrow, enjoy the run eh?
Just put the popcorn on with predictions of a good video to follow soon. Is that too much to ask DJ?
No video Potty. I turned up at 7, not knowing that the start time had been moved to 6am. The wind was ok when I was there, but its a bit hard to do a car shuffle if you are the only person.
The 6am crew pulled the plug as there wasn't much wind early. Change came through a bit after 8:30, so the optimum time to be on the water today was probably from 6:45 - 8.
Yes it was a crazy morning with the weather.. 5am and there was nothing (maybe 5 knots).. Got down there anyway at 6am with fingers crossed and although BOM said 20 knots at the beacon the tops of the trees at Sandy where not moving an inch so we pulled the pin because looking west the dark rain clouds that come with the change looked close.. Lucky you didn't head off at 7am Ross because the change hit before 8am.. Bugger, bugger, bugger!
DJ
The fun of downwinders hey, waiting for all the stars to align. I've noticed a lot lately that there is conflicting predictions (wildly different) between what the BOM says and what Seabreeze predicts (Sydney weather anyway). Has anyone else noticed this?
That's the weather I guess, unpredictable at times. The Breeze seems to use other sources as well as using BOM's data but not sure of what these other sources are. The Breeze seems to be truer than the BOM at times.
Better luck next time hey fellas.
Nic Maloney, Kristi Page and Justin Ormonde did a smokin DW from PRK to Torquay Point 16km (Outlaw Race Trial Run) in Nukin conditions today.
Thrills, epic spills, and smokin runners to be had.
Vid to come.

Great vid Matt.. Shame we pulled the pin at 6am.. You are flying on that new skinny 2013 Ace.
Love the cloud in that vid.. You could tell the front was about to hit by looking at the sky.
DJ
Yeah thank it was great while it lasted.
I'm stoked I wasn't off the rock at green point when the change hit.
Nice vid of my local run DJ! We need more of you guys down here to do some DW, it's a great paddle , but most of the time I'm out there by myself or with Lazza.
Are you coming down to the Great Ocean Paddle? Will be a great paddle if we get the right wind!! It's looking like it may be SW for the race.
