After being here a week, and a few runs with the hawaiian and aussies crew we are all gearing up for the race tomorrow.

The race will be 9.5 miles (approx 15.5 km) starting at 9am ( Australian time-monday morning) - staggered starts from within Maliko Gulch and straight into Kahalui harbour.

Here is a few pics from the last few days... with yesterday afternoon being one of the best so far! Some of the quickest and longest runners we have had since we got here!

Having so much fun over here...
Surfing in the morning and downwinders every afternoon.
Yesterday arvo was definately the pick so far, wind was crankin' and the runners were insane, especially the second time over.
Another week to go and hopefully another Maliko run or two every day.

Very nice pic of 2 very nice boards !! I like the thought of a little more width & volume, a little further forward, on the F-16 v's the 17 Glide. But that F-16 looks like at least an F-16.5 ! Maybe it's the camera angle, and the F-16 is slightly closer...

G'day Hilly
Been paddling with Courts everyday (hope to interview Courts today - putting a small doco together - So hope to make it easyer for the aussies who are keen to come over to Maui for a Maliko Run) but Courts got sick & mist a great downwind run the other day. Me best run to date is 15k's in 71 minutes

Lacey the aussies who put these downwind races together in Australia mate just can't get it a bugger paddling into the wind (its the same a p###ing into the wind) you can have that.
save ya $$$$ lacey Maliko will blow your mind & the Maui girls are just gorgeous I can't stop drooling I want to defect & live on Maui.

G'ady DJ
got many unreal pics I'll post them soon as I can get my hands on'em.

DJ
the day Dave Kalama paddled Maliko in 53 minutes. That week the winds were 35 knots just neucking everyone was smashing records & the prone paddleboarders were s###ting themselves & put legropes on Maliko was just a white water rapid.

G'day all
I got approached by this big Maui bikie chick and she asked me if I could be her
b!tch. I said, i'm not into strap-ons, plus I'd need a full bottle of cane-cutters cordial (bundy rum). This bikie chick had the biggest set of hooters I've ever seen, I said at least when I'm sitting on the back I've got something to hold onto.
too funny

There's no comparison to be made, even a sh!tty run here is as good as the best we get back home.
According to DW it's like a surfer heading to indo to get endless supply of perfect waves.

yeah phil, it wasn't a race we really wonted to do, but we had to go, so hopefully they'll include us next year with some sup people input. maybe, organizers will be able give us more of what we need. i personally don't think it's a good look for the sport to have people slugging it out in wrong conditions .ideally and it's a tough task for the event people, a mobile sup section in these events would be able to make the most of the conditions available. i reckon everyone in sup divisions would be keen to help with that
cheers
ps. thx's to the bryon bay ocean paddlers club for the 2 day event
pps yeah phil, i'll start saving for sure

Hey guys.... wow what an amazing race! ended up 7th in the womens overall and 6th in my division... had all of the elite racers in my division (andrea moller, chantelle strome, devon blish, so to get 6th in my division and 7th overall - Im super stoked!

All the aussies did really really well...everyone is super friendly and this by far was one of the most amazing experiences ive had sporting wise!

Hilly - Met Court and his girl Fernanda.. both did really well - !

The F16's are awesome boards - and the conditions for the race were by far the best down wind conditions I've ever been in or raced... Ill be back next year for sure!
