There will be a race per month with the Outrigger Clubs including the Gold Coast Cup relay in November and Nationals at Coffs in December.

The race program is below. Get into these races as if interest is low they will dissapear.........

** LC direction will be confirmed the afternoon of Friday, 20 August via the MOCC website, email to clubs and
AusOutrigger. We have allowed extra time between the LC briefing and the race start in the event of a downwind from
Moffat Beach - conditions permitting. If conditions do not allow for a downwind, please be prepared to start soon after
the LC briefing. All registration, briefings and canoe launching will take place at the Mooloolaba Marina compound. **
All divisions of OC1 / OC2 / Ski will start together in the Short Course and Long Course.
Short Course / SC SUP / U19 OC1 / U16 OC2 paddlers will register and, after the briefing, will launch their craft at the
Mooloolaba Marina and paddle out the river mouth to the start line as a warm-up. There is no need to put in at
Mooloolaba Beach before the race. If the Long Course is not a downwind, the LC procedure will likely be similar.
Other Junior races will be held in the Mooloolah River with registration and canoe launching from the Mooloolaba Marina.

I don't know for sure but from what I hear there were 2 or 3 people that raced in last years series so it's an all in affair. Could be chicken and egg though, if people don't know the race is on it could be hard to get numbers....... If you want to race I'd say take a big fast board, if you want to participate and be part of a good crowd of people, BBQ etc etc take whatever you've got and have fun being the start of a new sport.

Yes CMC you are correct. There has only been the usual 2 - 5 competitors enter these races in the "Sth QLD Outrigger Series" over the last 2 years.

Last year after much liasing and convincing the outrigger administrators and officials they did offer SUP the following regarding classes.

12'6", 14' and Unlimited
Under 40 and Over 40 in each board category.

I'm not sure if they have continued to follow these recommendations this year. As the SUP was not supported much over the last 2 years in this Series, maybe they have simplified the categories accordingly. I have not become involved so far this year as a SUP representative for this Series.

I'm heading up for the 7:30am race, but unfortunately won't be able to stay for the downwinder as I need to get down to Port Macquarie for Aussies that afternoon.
Are there any other Sup'ers planning to do the short course?

I' m going up and doing the OC1 short course race then the Sup race later. I think Ang and Jaz are going to do the same and stevo is coming up not sure if he is racing, Macca should be coming and so should steve Quiller.

I floated the idea of re-scheduling the wedding with the significantly better half but there was something in the 'you don't like the way your genitals are attached' look that made me think better of the idea.

It sounds like it's going to be a good one with a few crew heading up. Time to show people that this sport is growing. The more fun it looks to others, the more people will join in and soon small races become big ones.

If only there was something tieing all of these races held by the different organisations together for those that get the most points overall to gain added recognition. One step at a time though, get people to actually paddle first....

All nominations to be completed on the AOCRA website via the 'On the Day/International Nominations' tab aocra.com.au/index.php?page=international-nominations

No cash will be accepted on the day. Make sure you register in advance to avoid unnecessary queues as regos will still need to be done with a credit card on the AOCRA website at the regatta.

This Sth QLD Outrigger Race Series does add all of your individual race results together to come up with an Overall Series Winner and placegetters. Last year I believe Stuart Phinn went very well in the SUP. Although Stuart may not have actually won a race, he was consistant in entering and placing which I think won him the overall Series.

A meeting is been held this afternoon to confirm the course for the Long Course race. If the wind is not optimum for a one way course (downwind) then an alternate course may be selected.

I will post here as soon as I hear from Officials.

The officials have just finished their meeting.

Long Course is confirmed as a Moffat Beach start, unless conditions change dramatically overnight. Registration and briefing will be at the Mooloolaba Marina / Shed as per the program.

Please register online tonight aocra.com.au/index.php?page=international-nominations

No cash will be accepted on the day and the online registration process can be slow - even with a decent web connection.

If you must register tomorrow with a credit card, please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to queue up - i.e. not 10 minutes before your race.

Scotty the briefing is still at the Mooloolaba Marina at 12pm as the majority of races are being held there. The officials would have just finished the last race there.

They will brief you all quickly and then you can drive to Moffat. They then fly down in the safety boats and meet you there.

Look for Danny who is the Race Director and Starter and who will be conducting the briefings. Have fun out there guys !! I'm off to Under 7 soccer ...

Thanks to all of you who came and supported the event today, especially those who travelled 2 hrs up from the Gold Coast. The weather was just perfect but the wind was not strongand the ocean was therefore pretty flat.

There were 5 SUP entries in the Short course this morning and 5 different SUP entrants in the Long Course this afternoon. Some of the Gold Coast crew like Jacko and Steve did the Short Course on OC1 (single outrigger) in their first ever race and then they did the Long Course on SUP later in the day. A total of 22km of paddling today. Well done guys !!

I only have the results and times of the Long Course so far. Sorry Short Course paddlers. I will post your results as soon as I get them. I can see by Flakers photo's who some of you are but don't know official times. I do know that there were about 65 total craft on the water for the Short Course (5 being SUP) and 73 craft on the water for the Long Course (5 being SUP).

And I know that PT (Peter Turner) won the short course SUP this morning cause he was on my DC17' (first pic with blue board) And can you return it sometime soon PT then ask Santa/Dale to buy/make you one !!

I will post the Short Course results as soon as I get them. Here are the Long Course Results (14km) in completely flat water with a left hand side wind around 5-10 knots. (Travis Grant actually said there were times when you had a slight head wind too. Trav was on OC1 and won outright in the Long Course)

1st Paul Jackson - 1hr 20mins 55secs
2nd Steve Walker - 1hr 28mins 26secs
3rd Steve Quiller - 1hr 32 mins 20secs
4th Angela Jackson - 1hr 32mins 24secs
5th Scott Roberts - 1 hr 33mins 45 secs (Master)

Fantastic effort again guys. Hope to see you all, and more, back again for the next race in 3 weeks time at Tweed/Ballina.

Jacko it will take them a few days to get it sorted I'd say. I had the timer email me just the SUP for this thread. I will let you know when all the OC1 results are done.

Here's the link of where you will find them in a few days:-
