Well done to Andy Davies winning the long course race yesterday and being crowned Australian Champion for the long course (25k). Held in less than ideal dw conditions it was good to see those dedicated to the sport show up to support the event. Andy was also voted by his peers to be the winner of the Friday arvo expression session that also featured Riggs & Seppa Napoleon.
Today is the short course race (12km) with similar conditions forecasted.
Good luck all
Congrats Andy,
The surprises just keep coming, didnt know you even did racing. I still remember the first morning I saw you surf at Pamby this year, I turned to Kevin who was shooting the vid and said WTF who is this guy???
Did Riggs bring out the 7.5PSH? how did he go?
Smokin effort

as i understand it, if you are just doing todays race, that will be $120. that counts me right out of it. just spent $300 on the car repairs good luck for today

Results as per AOCRA site. Not sure whats going on here with results, Andy listed as 3rd overall. Perhaps incorrect, 3 paddlers in the whole field? National Title??
Could be worth the $120, nobody in the race you can say you got 3rd in the Nationals Long Course.
Trav Grant won the OC1 as well, Todd Cohen 2nd, Greg Long 3rd. Woogie 6th, Sepa Nepolean 13th.
Is it really the Australian Title's for Stand up Paddle when its run on the back of an AOCRA event? It just seems like SUP is an after thought in these events.....Would be good to see an Australian Stand Up Paddle title by itself. Anyway, kudos to all who competed as it sounded like a couple of tough races with little or no wind or swell assistance.
Short course results for top three places:
1st Travis Grant
2nd Paul Jackson
3rd Andy Davies
*Times unsure of. Well done to all!
Travis 1st and Jacko 2nd very close finish. Andy was about 5mins after in 3nd place.
Travis got a nice little wave but super close between jacko and travis with the rest of the field about 5min behind.

I think everyone was on 12'6's classs boards. Jacko was on the Catalina, not sure what travis was on, i guess a dc?

Yeah pretty hard race today, Travis killed it and I guess proved he is still one of the best paddlers!! He really has all the small things dialed and they make all the difference. When he turned the rock wall at the start he picked a good runner and pulled a nice little lead and that' the way it stayed pretty much. I'm stoked to even be in touch with such a good paddler, so stoked with 2nd!!!!
Also don't think it was a nat's for the Sup and If it was it would be the first I have heard of it.
The short course race on Sunday was great fun and was good to see alot more competitors turn up for the 3 divisions that were run. Andy without doubt is the man of the moment and I reckon if he didn't party with the Hawaiians on the Sat night he would of given Trav a run for his money!
