Looks like Annabel Anderson rode

?hd=1 one of those $6,500 Laird freak boards
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/SUP/LairdPUMA-board-goes-retail-6500-for-a-SUP/ into 2nd place, so they can't be too bad.

The first 14ft board was 8 minutes behind the first unlimited - just doesn't make sense
I would have thought the 14ft displacement type boards would go better over a circuit type long course - OR WAS IT DOWNWIND - still 8 minutes is a huge gap.
Do we know what kind of unlimited boards they were riding???
Maybe it just doesn't matter - just curious.....

Didn't see it, but probably these. Both look displacement'ish. 30% longer than a 14 footer.

Danny Ching (1st)

Rob Rojas (2nd)

Long distance.

He would have had roughly the same time as Chase and Jake (14th/15th overall; 1st/2nd 14 foot).

He's not listed in the race results
raceresults.eternaltiming.com/20110924_Rainbow_Sandals_Battle_of_the_Paddle.htm?Fuseaction=Results&Class=Distance+SUP+Individual~All
at all though.

I say that would be 14-15th OVERALL, 2nd in 14 foot and FIRST in Age/Board length????

To me, OVERALL is regardless of sex, board length or age div...

there seems some confusion with the results from this Distance race......

How awesome are the kids! Some of them seem to have custom kid's race boards - like nipper boards for the clubbie kids...all good stuff and a great vibe

Yeah that's was me that was 2nd in the 14ft class, I didn't register cause I was out partying till 3am and decided to save the entry fee.
Was a great weekend over there with the competition level stronger was great to see Currumbin creek being represented so well

Another great video , I reckon you guys & gals need to wax the front deck on your boards and run off the front like the clubbies do , you'll gain valuble yards every time and hit the beach flying , it will also help protect fin and stop you hoping off in knee deep water IMHO

Just spoke to Beau O'Brien fresh off the plane and he already wants me to start planning his training program for the next race. (Have a break Beau)
He totally loved the atmosphere and the intensity of the races.
And is already to go again...

Look out Roar's Training Group as we ramp it up....
